George A. Williams II

Union Sportif Madinet Alger (D1) strengthened their roster with the addition of 33-year-old American (who has also a Nigerian passport) guard George A. Williams II (198cm-95kg-1990, college: WBU) for season 2023-24. Williams played this summer at Marinos in the Venezuelan SPB league but left the team in May. In 11 games just recently he recorded 9.0ppg and 1.7rpg.

He is quite an experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Asia, Latin America, Africa, and of course North America) in fifteen different countries. Williams has played previously professionally in Argentina (Ferro), Belize (Tiger Sharks), Canada (Power and Highlanders), Chile (Puerto Varas), Dominican Republic (Reales), Iraq (Al Kahraba and Zakho), Kuwait (Arabi), Mexico (Pioneros Los Mochis and Libertadores), Oman (Al Bashaer), United Kingdom, Kenya (Kenya Ports Authority), Bolivia (La Salle and Amistad), Egypt (Al Geish), PBL (Lynchburg T.) and Mongolia (Bison).

The list of past achievements is quite long as among others he won the Omani League championship title in 2021. He was also voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Kuwait D2 Point Guard of the Year in 2022.

Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered the top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 2012 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player. Williams played also for State Fair Community College for 2 years.
