Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Algerians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former U16 international guard
Nadir Hifi (190-2002, currently plays in France). He could not help the league outsider
Le Portel (0-5) in their last game. Despite Hifi's good performance Le Portel lost
71-75 at home to the lower-ranked (#6) Le Mans.
He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Hifi also added 5 passes in 40 minutes on the court.
So far Le Portel lost all five games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Hifi averages: 9.8ppg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 57.7%(15-26), 3FGP: 18.5% and FT: 77.8% in six games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French.
Hifi played for the Algerian U16 national team year ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international forward
Kamel Ammour (203-1991, currently plays in France). He was not able to help
Saint Chamond (1-1) in their last game on Friday. Despite Ammour's good performance Saint Chamond was badly defeated
93-76 on the road by the much higher-ranked Lille Metropole (#5).
He scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Ammour has relatively good stats this year: 10.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 42.9% and FT: 81.8%.
He played for the Algerian national team in 22.
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard
Nadyr Labouize (187-1997, currently plays in France). Labouize was not able to secure a victory for
Saint Vallier (1-4) in their game against JA Vichy (1-1) in the French ProB (second division).
He scored 6 points in 17 minutes.
Saint Vallier lost
89-98 in Vichy to the lower-ranked (#10) JA Vichy.
It was Saint Vallier's third consecutive loss in a row.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Labouize's overall stats are: 3.5ppg, 3.0rpg in two games.
He played for the Algerian national team year ago.
#4. An experienced point guard
Samir Mekdad (191-1986, currently plays in France) was the major contributor in
Toulouse's victory against the seventh-ranked Rueil (3-3)
85-81 in the French NM1 (third division) in Friday night's game.
Mekdad scored 11 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 6 assists.
Toulouse Basket Club (5-1) is placed third in Group A.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This season Mekdad has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 4.7rpg and 4.0apg.
He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French.
