Toulouse sign Samir Mekdad

Toulouse Basket Club (NM1) tabbed experienced 35-year old former Algerian-French international 191cm point guard Samir Mekdad for new season. Mekdad is the second foreign player in the roster as Ivorian Ladji Meite signed here earlier.
He played most recently at Chartres Basket Masculins. In 26 NM1 games he averaged 8.3ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.5apg last season. He also played for WA Boufarik (D1) in Algerian league where in 26 games he had 8.3ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.5apg.
He also represented Algeria at the Afrobasket Championship in Rades (Tunisia) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 5.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.3apg.
Mekdad has spent his entire career in Algeria playing for eight other teams: ALM Evreux, Berck, La Rochelle, Etendard de Brest, STB Le Havre, Rueil, SPO Rouen and Vendee Challans.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Toulouse.
