Here is the weekly review of the top performing Algerian players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former U16 international guard
Nadir Hifi (190-2, currently plays in France). He contributed to a
Le Portel's victory against the 13th-ranked Paris (7-12)
65-57 in the French Betclic ELITE ProA in Friday night's game.
Hifi recorded 7 points in 25 minutes on the court.
ESSM Le Portel Cote d'Opale (3-1) is placed second in the Betclic ELITE ProA.
This year Hifi averages: 3.4ppg, 2FGP: 45.5%, 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 66.7% in seven games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French.
Hifi played for the Algerian U16 national team five years ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international point guard
Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). He led
C'Chartres to a 3-point victory over the third-ranked Lyon CTC (15-7)
82-79 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday.
Mekdad was MVP of the game. He scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams. Chartres Basket Masculins (16-7) is placed second in Group B.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Mekdad's overall stats this season are: 7.1ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 35.7%, 3FGP: 27.5% and FT: 62.5%.
He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French.
Mekdad played for the Algerian national team in 2020.
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward
Mohamed Harat (198-90, currently plays in Saudi Arabia). He led
Al Fateh to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Duba Club (3-17)
88-71 in the Saudi Arabian SBL on Friday night.
Harat scored 15 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 23 minutes.
Al Fateh Al Hasa (12-8) is placed fifth in the SBL.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
It's Harat's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Harat averages: 28.7ppg, 14.7rpg, 3.3apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 64.5%(216-335), 3FGP: 26.8% and FT: 69.2% in 20 games.
Former Groupe Sportif Petroliers Alger starter played for the Algerian national team two years ago.
#4. Center
Touhami Ghezzoul (209-87, college:
N.Dakota St., currently plays in Saudi Arabia) could not help
Al Salam (8-12) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance Al Salam was crushed
90-67 at home by the second-ranked Al Nasr.
Ghezzoul recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important.
This season Ghezzoul has very high stats. He averages: 18.7ppg, 15.6rpg and 2.1bpg.
Ghezzoul used to play for the Algerian national team
back in 2019.
#5. Former international guard
Nadyr Labouize (187-97, currently plays in France) was not able to help
Andrezieux in their game against STB Le Havre (1-4) in the French NM1 (third division). He did not have that impressive stats last Friday.
Labouize scored only 2 points in 19 minutes.
The sixth-placed Andrezieux (13-9) was edged
80-78 on their home court in Andrezieux by the lower-ranked (#6) STB Le Havre in the Group B.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important.
This year Labouize's overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.9apg in 19 games.
He used to play for the Algerian national team
three years ago.
#6. Point guard
Faycal Sahraoui (190-79, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for
Toulouse (12-3) in their game against Vitre (11-10) in the French NM1 (third division).
Sahraoui scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 7 assists.
Toulouse was defeated
65-57 on the road by the lower-ranked Vitre (#5) in the Group A.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season.
Sahraoui's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 2.4rpg and 5.4apg.
He is a former international player as he played for the Algerian senior team seven years ago.
