Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Algerians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Mohamed Harat (198-90, currently plays in Saudi Arabia). He was the major contributor in an
Al Fateh's victory against the closely-ranked Ohod (8-2)
86-76 in the Saudi Arabian SBL in Friday night's game.
Harat had a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 16 rebounds in 40 minutes on the court.
Al Fateh Al Hasa (5-5) is placed sixth in the SBL.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
It's Harat's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Harat averages: 28.9ppg, 15.7rpg, 3.7apg, 2.4spg, 2FGP: 64.8%(105-162), 3FGP: 17.6% and FT: 70.7% in 10 games he played so far.
Former Groupe Sportif Petroliers Alger starter played for the Algerian senior national team one years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international center
Touhami Ghezzoul (209-87, college:
N.Dakota St., currently plays in Saudi Arabia). He led
Al Salam to a victory against one of league's weakest teams Duba Club (1-9)
68-56 in the Saudi Arabian SBL last Friday.
Ghezzoul recorded 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Al Salam (4-6) is placed ninth in the SBL.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Ghezzoul has relatively good stats this season: 14.0ppg, 13.5rpg, 2FGP: 56.5%(13-23).
He played for the Algerian national team in 2019.
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international shooting guard
Ilian Nessaibia (183-3, currently plays in Switzerland). Nessaibia contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams CNBS (0-8) crushing them
94-49 in the Swiss NLB (second division) on Sunday night.
He scored 6 points and added 5 assists in 18 minutes.
Pully Basket Foxes (2-6) are placed fifth in the NLB.
This year Nessaibia's overall stats are: 4.0ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 68.4%(13-19), 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 45.5% in 10 games.
He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French.
Nessaibia played for the Algerian U16 national team two years ago.
#4. Forward
Adel Mellak (206-1, currently plays in NCAA2) managed to help Ouachita Baptist University to win against the Arkansas Baptist College (0-8)
79-66 in the NCAA2 in Tuesday night's game.
He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Ouachita Baptist University has 0-3 record this season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Mellak's total stats this year are: 1.4ppg and 2.6rpg.
He used to play for the Algerian U18 national team
back in 2018.
#5. Former international guard
Nadyr Labouize (187-97, currently plays in France) contributed to
Andrezieux's victory against the fifth-ranked C'Chartres (7-4)
86-76 in the French NM1 (third division) on Friday night.
Labouize scored 6 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
Andrezieux Boutheon Loire Sud Basket (9-6) is placed fifth in Group B.
Labouize's total stats this season are: 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg.
He used to play for the Algerian national team
two years ago.
#6. Point guard
Faycal Sahraoui (190-79, currently plays in France) contributed to
Toulouse's victory against the sixth-ranked Union Rennes (1-8)
77-66 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday.
He scored only 4 points and added 6 assists.
Toulouse Basket Club (7-3) is placed third in Group A.
Sahraoui's total stats this season are: 8.1ppg, 2.3rpg and 5.1apg.
He is a former international player as he played for the Algerian senior team six years ago.
The list of other players, who all have Algerian passport but never been selected to any of Algerian national teams: #1. Jamal Tahraoui (199-F-95, college:
USAO, currently plays in Spain). Tahraoui could not help
Melilla (2-1) to beat Burgos (4-9).
He scored 5 points in 13 minutes.
The second-placed Melilla (2-1) lost
73-80 at home to the much lower-ranked (#14) Burgos in the West group.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
This year Tahraoui's total stats are: 5.7ppg and 1.8rpg in nine games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: British and Algerian.
#2. Amine Bensaleh (201-F, currently plays in NAIA) was not able to help the
Wayland Baptist University in their game against the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (3-2) in the NAIA. Bensaleh cannot count it as his best performance.
He scored only 3 points in 7 minutes on the court.
The Wayland Baptist University was edged
73-71 on the road by the Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
There are only four games left until the end of the NAIA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Bensaleh's total stats are: 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg in 12 games.
