We bring you last week's top performances from Algerians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Mohamed Harath (198-90, currently plays in Saudi Arabia). He led
Al Fateh to a victory over the seventh-ranked Al Ahly (5-13)
92-82 in the Saudi Arabian SBL in Sunday night's game.
Harath was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 38 points and getting 17 rebounds. Harath also added 4 assists and 2 blocks in 40 minutes on the court.
Al Fateh Al Hasa (14-4) is placed second in the SBL.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
The Regular Season already ended.
It's Harath's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Harath averages: 29.1ppg, 17.1rpg, 4.4apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 60.4%(151-250), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 68.5% in 15 games he played so far.
Ex-Groupe Sportif Petroliers Alger player is currently a member of the Algerian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international shooting guard
Karim Atamna (196-80, currently plays in France). He managed to help FOS Provence Basket to win against the ninth-ranked ALM Evreux (8-6)
89-72 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday.
Atamna recorded only 2 points and added 5 assists.
FOS Provence Basket (10-4) is placed third in the ProB.
Atamna's overall stats this season are: 2.6ppg, 1.1rpg, 1.7apg, 3FGP: 47.4%(9-19).
He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French.
Atamna played for the Algerian national team in 2007.
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international power forward
Rayan Hamdi (203-99, currently plays in France). He contributed to
Rueil's victory against the 14th-ranked Vanves (3-18)
84-74 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night.
Hamdi recorded 10 points in 19 minutes.
Rueil Athletic Club Basket (9-9) is placed eighth in Group A.
They ended the series of four consecutive loses.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Hamdi's overall stats are: 4.0ppg, 2.6rpg in seven games.
He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French.
Hamdi played for the Algerian U18 national team five years ago.
#4. Guard
Nadyr Labouize (187-97, currently plays in France) contributed to
Andrezieux's victory against the 11th-ranked Besancon (6-14)
99-87 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game.
He recorded 13 points and added 7 passes (made all of his five free throws).
Andrezieux Boutheon Loire Sud Basket (12-9) is placed sixth in Group B.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Labouize's total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 3.4rpg and 3.4apg.
He used to play for the Algerian national team
back in 2019.
#5. Former international point guard
Faycal Sahraoui (188-79, currently plays in France) contributed to a 3-point
Toulouse's victory against the 11th-ranked Etoile Angers (6-14)
68-65 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday.
Sahraoui had a double-double by scoring 11 points and making 10 passes. He also added and 4 steals in 36 minutes.
Toulouse Basket Club (14-3) is placed first in Group A.
It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important.
Sahraoui has relatively good stats this year: 10.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 7.6apg and 1.6spg in 16 games.
He has both Algerian and French nationalities.
Sahraoui used to play for the Algerian national team
