Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Algerians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced international point guard
Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). He managed to help Rouen Metropole Basket in a victory against the 11th-ranked Denain Voltaire (1-2)
94-89 in the French ProB (second division) in Sunday night's game.
Mekdad scored only 4 points in 13 minutes on the court. It was his first game for SPO Rouen this season.
His team is placed fourth in the ProB.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Mekdad has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French.
He is currently a member of the Algerian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to U16 international shooting guard
Ilian Nessaibia (184-3, currently plays in Switzerland). Nessaibia contributed to
Pully's victory against the closely-ranked Morges-Saint-Prex (2-1)
93-81 in the Swiss NLB (second division) last Saturday.
He scored 10 points.
Pully Basket (1-0) is placed sixth in the NLB.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
This year Nessaibia averages: 7.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.5apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 62.5%.
He played for the Algerian U16 national team in 2019.
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard
Nadyr Labouize (187-97, currently plays in France). Labouize led
Andrezieux to a victory over the 14th-ranked Avignon/Pontet (0-3)
80-69 in the French NM1 (third division) on Tuesday night.
He was MVP of the game. Labouize scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 24 minutes.
Andrezieux Boutheon Loire Sud Basket (4-1) is placed second in Group B.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Labouize has relatively good stats this year: 12.0ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 62.5%(15-24), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 68.2% in five games he played so far.
He played for the Algerian national team one years ago.
#4. Point guard
Faycal Sahraoui (188-79, currently plays in France) could not help
Toulouse (2-0) in their last game on Friday. Despite Sahraoui's very good performance the fifth-placed Toulouse (2-0) was defeated
99-94 at home by the leading Rueil in the Group A.
He scored 15 points and added 7 passes (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line).
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This season Sahraoui has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 2.3rpg, 6.0apg and 1.3spg.
