SAMIR MEKDAD
We bring you last week's top performances from Algerians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Samir Mekdad
Samir Mekdad
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). He led STB Le Havre to a victory over the sixth-ranked Sorgues BC (8-9) crushing them 87-46 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. Mekdad was MVP of the game. He recorded 18 points in 23 minutes on the court. STB Le Havre (14-5) is placed second in Places 1-10 group. Mekdad has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.7apg, 2FGP: 44.6%, 3FGP: 34.4% and FT: 68.0% in 35 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French. Mekdad played for the Algerian senior national team two years ago.

Mehdi Cheriet
Mehdi Cheriet
#2. Second place goes to former international power forward Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St., currently plays in France). He could not help SO Maritime Boulogne (7-11) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Cheriet's good performance the eighth-placed SO Maritime Boulogne (7-11) was defeated 86-81 on the road by the higher-ranked JSA Bordeaux (#4) in the Places 1-10 group. He recorded 11 points and added 3 passes. Cheriet's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And that game will be critical. This season Cheriet averages: 7.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 57.8%(78-135), 3FGP: 38.4% and FT: 62.2%. He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French. Despite Cheriet played previously for the French U20 national team, he played also for the Algerian national team in 2017.

Karim Atamna
Karim Atamna
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international shooting guard Karim Atamna (196-80, currently plays in France). Atamna was not able to help Aix-Maurienne (9-24) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Aix-Maurienne lost 84-93 in Evreux to the higher-ranked (#13) ALM Evreux. Atamna scored 18 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals in 38 minutes. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. It's Atamna's fourth season with the team. This year Atamna's overall stats are: 7.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.9apg, 2FGP: 59.3%(16-27), 3FGP: 42.4% and FT: 92.3% in 31 games. Similarly like Cheriet and Mekdad above he has both Algerian and French nationalities. Atamna played for the Algerian national team twelve years ago.

Faycal Sahraoui
Faycal Sahraoui
#4. Guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Kaysersberg (4-13) crushing them 95-66 in the French NM1 (third division) in Sunday night's game. He recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Stade Rochelais Basket (7-9) is placed seventh in Places 11-20 group. The Second Stage already ended. Sahraoui is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in La Rochelle's roster. This season Sahraoui has relatively solid stats: 12.9ppg, 3.2rpg, 6.1apg and 1.3spg. Similarly like three previous players above, he also holds two passports: Algerian and French. Sahraoui used to play for the Algerian national team back in 2015.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Algerian passport:

#1. Chej Ainatu (191-G/F-91, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in Ardoi's victory against the fourth-ranked Tarragona (1-2) 71-62 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Thursday. He recorded 13 points in 21 minutes. Megacalzado Ardoi (1-2) is placed third in Final 3 group. It was his team's 13th consecutive victory in a row. This year Ainatu's total stats are: 7.3ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg in 26 games he played so far.

Other top Algerian players, who play abroad:

Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) plays for Al Shamal in Qatari D1
Edivaldo Cardoso (91) plays for Lusiada in Angolan Division I
Touhami Ghezzoul (209-C-87) plays for Al Wehda in Saudi Arabian SBL
Boudji Yaici (186-PG-87) plays for Beaujolais in French NM2
Ahmed Fellah (182-PG-81) plays for Laval in French NM2
Rayan Hamdi (204-F/C-99) plays for Gravelines in French ProA U21
