SAMIR MEKDAD
Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Algerians who are currently playing abroad.

Samir Mekdad
Samir Mekdad
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). He could not help STB Le Havre (13-5) in their last game. Despite Mekdad's good performance the second-placed STB Le Havre (13-5) lost 65-70 on the road to the leading Souffelweyersheim in the Places 1-10 group. He was the second best scorer with 11 points in 27 minutes on the court. It was STB Le Havre's first loss after three consecutive victories. Mekdad's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And that game will be critical. Mekdad has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 44.6%, 3FGP: 34.2% and FT: 68.5% in 32 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French. Mekdad played for the Algerian senior national team two years ago.

Mehdi Cheriet
Mehdi Cheriet
#2. Second place goes to former international power forward Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St., currently plays in France). He managed to help SO Maritime Boulogne to win against the ninth-ranked Rueil (7-10) crushing them 98-73 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday. Cheriet scored 5 points. SO Maritime Boulogne (7-10) is placed seventh in Places 1-10 group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And now that game is very crucial. This season Cheriet averages: 7.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 58.5%(69-118), 3FGP: 40.3% and FT: 65.9%. He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French. Cheriet played for the Algerian national team in 2017.

Faycal Sahraoui
Faycal Sahraoui
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79, currently plays in France). He led La Rochelle to a victory over the second-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (12-5) 84-73 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. Sahraoui was MVP of the game. He scored 15 points in 24 minutes. Stade Rochelais Basket (6-9) is placed seventh in Places 11-20 group. The Second Stage already ended. It's Sahraoui's eighth season with the team. This year Sahraoui has relatively solid stats: 13.1ppg, 3.2rpg, 6.2apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 49.2%, 3FGP: 40.2% and FT: 69.1% in 31 games. Similarly like Cheriet and Mekdad above he has both Algerian and French nationalities. Sahraoui played for the Algerian national team four years ago.

Karim Atamna
Karim Atamna
#4. Shooting guard Karim Atamna (196-80, currently plays in France) was not able to help Aix-Maurienne in their game against Chorale de Roanne (23-6) in the French ProB (second division). His contribution was not very remarkable in Friday's game. Atamna scored only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Aix-Maurienne was badly defeated 90-70 in Roanne by the leading Chorale de. It was Aix-Maurienne's sixth consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Atamna is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Aix-Maurienne's roster. His overall stats this season are: 7.1ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.9apg. Similarly like three previous players above, Atamna also holds two passports: Algerian and French. He used to play for the Algerian national team back in 2007.

Other top Algerian players, who play abroad:

Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) plays for Al Shamal in Qatari D1
Edivaldo Cardoso (91) plays for Lusiada in Angolan Division I
Chej Ainatu (191-G/F-91) plays for Ardoi in Spanish EBA
Touhami Ghezzoul (209-C-87) plays for Al Wehda in Saudi Arabian SBL
