MOHAMED HARATH
Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Algerians who are currently playing abroad.

Mohamed Harath
Mohamed Harath
#1. This week's number one is former international forward Mohamed Harath (198-90, currently plays in Qatar). He led Al Shamal to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked Al Arabi (7-5) 79-76 in a derby game in the Qatari D1 in Wednesday night's game. Harath was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 22 rebounds. Harath also added 6 assists and 3 steals in 40 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Al Shamal Doha (10-2) is placed first in the D1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Harath has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 27.3ppg, 18.1rpg, 4.0apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 53.8% and FT: 77.1% in 10 games he played so far. Former Groupe Sportif Petroliers Alger starter played for the Algerian senior national team two years ago.

Faycal Sahraoui
Faycal Sahraoui
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79, currently plays in France). Sahraoui led La Rochelle to a victory over the eighth-ranked Rueil (10-9) 100-95 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday. He was the best player in that game. Sahraoui scored 22 points and added 3 passes. Stade Rochelais Basket (10-10) is placed tenth in Group B. It's Sahraoui's eighth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 13.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.9apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 51.6%, 3FGP: 41.3% and FT: 73.0%. Sahraoui has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French. He played for the Algerian national team in 2015.

Mehdi Cheriet
Mehdi Cheriet
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St., currently plays in France). Cheriet contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Recy Saint-Martin (6-14) crushing them 100-75 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 6 points in 17 minutes. SO Maritime Boulogne (12-8) is placed fourth in Group A. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This year Cheriet's overall stats are: 8.1ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 56.0%(47-84), 3FGP: 34.8% and FT: 63.2% in 19 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French. Despite Cheriet played previously for the French U20 national team, he played also for the Algerian national team in 2017.

Samir Mekdad
Samir Mekdad
#4. Point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). Mekdad could not help STB Le Havre (11-7) to beat Etoile Angers (11-8). His contribution was not very remarkable in Friday's game. Mekdad scored only one point, made 4 passes and 3 steals. The third-placed STB Le Havre (11-7) was badly defeated 80-61 on the road by the lower-ranked Etoile Angers (#4) in the Group B. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. This season Mekdad has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.4apg. Similarly like Cheriet and Sahraoui above he has both Algerian and French nationalities. Mekdad used to play for the Algerian national team back in 2017.

Karim Atamna
Karim Atamna
#5. Former international shooting guard Karim Atamna (196-80, currently plays in France) was not able to help Aix-Maurienne in their game against Chorale de Roanne (13-3) in the French ProB (second division). He recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 38 minutes. Aix-Maurienne lost 62-74 at home to the leading Chorale de Roanne. It was Aix-Maurienne's fifth consecutive loss in a row. Atamna is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Aix-Maurienne's roster. This season Atamna's total stats are: 7.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.1spg in 16 games. Similarly like three previous players above, he also holds two passports: Algerian and French. Atamna used to play for the Algerian national team twelve years ago.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Algerian passport:

#1. Chej Ainatu (191-G/F-91, currently plays in Spain). He could not help Ardoi (12-2) to beat Pas Pielagos (11-3). Ainatu scored 9 points. But Ardoi (#2) was crushed 103-80 on the road by the lower-ranked Pas Pielagos (#3) in the Group A-A. It was Ardoi's first loss after ten consecutive victories. It's Ainatu's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 8.1ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.7apg.
