MEHDI CHERIET
Here is the weekly review of the top performing Algerian players, who play currently abroad.

Mehdi Cheriet
Mehdi Cheriet
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St., currently plays in France). He contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (3-7) crushing them 74-47 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. Cheriet recorded 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 21 minutes on the court. SO Maritime Boulogne (4-6) is placed ninth in Group A. This year Cheriet averages: 8.2ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 55.6%(25-45) and FT: 66.7% in nine games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Algerian and French. Despite Cheriet played previously for the French U20 national team, he played also for the Algerian national team in 2017.

Faycal Sahraoui
Faycal Sahraoui
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79, currently plays in France). Sahraoui could not help La Rochelle (4-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance the 11th-placed La Rochelle (4-6) was edged 71-69 on the road by the higher-ranked Toulouse (#6) in the Group B. Sahraoui was the top scorer with 18 points. He also added 5 rebounds and 7 assists. It's Sahraoui's eighth season with the team. Sahraoui's overall stats this year are: 9.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 6.6apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 55.8%(29-52), 3FGP: 21.7%. He is another player who holds two passports: Algerian and French. Sahraoui played for the Algerian national team in 2015.

Samir Mekdad
Samir Mekdad
#3. The Algerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86, currently plays in France). He managed to help STB Le Havre in a victory against the ninth-ranked La Charite (5-5) 82-78 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. Mekdad recorded only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. STB Le Havre (7-3) is placed second in Group B. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Mekdad has relatively good stats this year: 11.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.6apg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 35.6% and FT: 68.8% in nine games. Similarly like Sahraoui and Cheriet above he has both Algerian and French nationalities. Mekdad played for the Algerian national team one years ago.

Karim Atamna
Karim Atamna
#4. Shooting guard Karim Atamna (196-80, currently plays in France) contributed to Aix-Maurienne's victory against the 15th-ranked Poitiers (1-4) 72-65 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Aix-Maurienne Savoie Basket (3-2) is placed seventh in the ProB. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Atamna is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Aix-Maurienne's roster. This season Atamna has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 3.2rpg and 3.4apg. Similarly like three previous players above, he also holds two passports: Algerian and French. Atamna used to play for the Algerian national team back in 2007.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Algerian passport:

#1. Chej Ainatu (191-G/F-91, currently plays in Spain) led Ardoi to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked La Fecha (1-4) crushing them 87-63 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Sunday. He scored 11 points in 23 minutes. Megacalzado Ardoi (6-0) is placed first in Group A-A. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Ainatu's first year with the team. This season Ainatu's overall stats are: 8.7ppg, 1.7apg and 1.7spg in three games he played so far.

Other top Algerian players, who play abroad:

Edivaldo Cardoso (91) plays for Lusiada in Angolan Division I
Touhami Ghezzoul (209-C-87) plays for Al Wehda in Saudi Arabian SBL
Boudji Yaici (186-PG-87) plays for Beaujolais in French NM2
Ahmed Fellah (182-PG-81) plays for Laval in French NM2
