D1 Round 10: USS prevail against IRB Arreridj - Jan 2, 2018

Host teams show no mercy winning all games. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Round 10 in D1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Setif where host USS (7-1) beat league's leader IRB Arreridj (7-2) 67-63 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of IRB Arreridj. It was a key game for the second position in the league. USS have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with CRB Dar El-B. IRB Arreridj at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by WA Boufarik.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked WA Boufarik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. WA Boufarik edged 5th ranked Staoueli at home 61-60. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Staoueli lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost.
Bottom-ranked Olympi Miliana (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 64-44 loss to fourteenth ranked OS Arreridj (4-6) in on Friday evening. OS Arreridj have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Loser Olympi Miliana still closes the standings with ten games lost.
A very interesting game took place in Alger. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 15th ranked RC Constantine (1-9) to eleventh ranked USM Alger (4-5) 66-63 on Friday evening. USM Alger have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. RC Constantine at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with nine games lost.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Batna, where 7th ranked El Eulma (5-5) lost to tenth ranked Olympi Batna (4-4) in a road game 59-65 on Friday. Olympi Batna moved-up to eighth place. Loser El Eulma keeps the seventh position with five games lost.

In the last game of round 10 USM Blida was defeated by CRB Dar El-B. in El-Beida 84-66.

WA Boufarik - Staoueli 61-60

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked WA Boufarik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. WA Boufarik edged 5th ranked Staoueli at home 61-60. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Staoueli lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost.

GS Petroliers celebrate 6th consecutive title - 5 days ago
GS Petroliers celebrate 2018/19 title as they had no difficulties in the Final game against NB Staoueli. GS Petroliers emerged to an easy 102-68 win as they had 59-34 halftime advantage. Earlier in the semifinals Groupe Sportif Petrolier overcame NA Hussein Dey 63-61, while NB Staoueli edged WA Boufarik 64-62. It was the 6th consecutive title for GS Petroliers. In 2013 CSM Constantine won the Play-offs after three year of dominance of GS Petroliers.   [read more]
