D1 Round 6: USS loses #1 position - Dec 4, 2017

The Regular Season in D1 just ended. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Round 6 in D1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in El-Beida where host CRB Dar El-B. (4-0) crushed league's leader USS (4-1) 93-62 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of USS. CRB Dar El-B. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. USS at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by IRB Arreridj.
Undefeated Constantine JP (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fourteenth ranked OS Arreridj. Visitors were defeated by OS Arreridj 74-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Constantine JP. OS Arreridj (1-5) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Ouargla. Constantine JP at the other side keeps the tenth position with one game lost.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked USMB (4-2) against fifteenth ranked Ouargla (1-5) on Saturday night. Visiting USMB was defeated by Ouargla in a tough game on the road 53-57. Ouargla left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with OS Arreridj. Loser USMB dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with El Eulma.

Loser Olympi Miliana still closes the standings with six games lost.

In the last two games of round 6 WA Boufarik defeated NAH Dey in a road game 91-89. USM Alger was smashed by El Eulma at home 55-74.


RC Constantine - IRB Arreridj 53-68

Bottom-ranked RC Constantine (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 68-53 loss to fifth ranked IRB Arreridj (5-1) in . But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. IRB Arreridj have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Staoueli and WA Boufarik. Newly promoted RC Constantine still closes the standings with six games lost.

NAH Dey - WA Boufarik 89-91

There was no surprise in Alger where 11th ranked NAH Dey (2-4) was edged by fourth ranked WA Boufarik (5-1) 91-89 on Saturday. WA Boufarik have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Staoueli and IRB Arreridj. Loser NAH Dey keeps the eleventh place with four games lost.

Olympi Miliana - Staoueli 48-68

Bottom-ranked Olympi Miliana (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 68-48 loss to third ranked Staoueli (5-1) in Miliana on Saturday evening. USM Alger - El Eulma 55-74

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked El Eulma (4-2) smashed on the road 12th ranked USM Alger (1-4) 74-55 on Saturday. El Eulma moved-up to sixth place, which they share with USM Blida. Newly promoted USM Alger keeps the twelfth position with four games lost.

GS Petroliers clinch Super Division title - 24 days ago
GS Petroliers clinched Super Division title as they won both games against Staoueli in the Final. At first Petroliers posted a comfortable 103-76 win in the opener. Last night Petroliers won 111-92 to grab the trophy. They posted a 28-20 lead at the start and added a 20-11 run in the second period. Moreover Petroliers scored 39 points in the third period and did not mind a 24-31 loss at the end of the game.   [read more]

This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent USS (3-2) to third ranked Staoueli (3-1) 60-59 in the game for the second place.
