Mali dethrone Egypt, clinch title in Madagascar- August 13, 2022
FINALMali - Egypt 86-54Mali clinched the title in Madagascar. They overcame Egypt in the championship game tonight. Maimouna Haidara (181-PF-2004) stepped up with 22 points and 12 boards for the champions. Mali led from start to finish. They established a 38-24 halftime lead. Mali unloaded 48 points in the second half and marched to the title. Fatoumata Sanou (160-PG-2004) contributed 18 points for Mali. Jana Elalfy (192-C-2005) answered with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Egypt. 3-4 PlaceAngola - Madagascar 53-37Angola stepped onto the pedestal in Madagascar. They rallied past the hosts to claim the Bronze medals. Madagascar snatched a 10-7 lead ten minutes into the game. But Angola used a 27-12 run in the second half to coast to the victory. Isabel Joao (177-PF-2004) came up with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Angelina Joao (2005) added 10 points for Angola. Marion Rasolofoson (2005) had 9 points for Madagascar. 5-6 PlaceUganda - Algeria 64-42Uganda knocked down Algeria to earn the fifth position. Priscillar Nambogo (G-2005) delivered 12 points, while Sylvia Nantongo and Diana Letaru (G) added 10 points each and combined for 29 rebounds to pace Uganda. Doua Yahiaoui (2004) and Wilsya Dellaa (2005) answered with 12 points apiece for Algeria. 7-8 PlaceGuinea - Tanzania 39-58Tanzania cruised past Guinea to claim the 7th overall position in the championship. Paulina Mollel (175-F-2004) banked in 12 points, while Nelious Mbugeni (168-G-2004) and Rehema Mhina (2005) posted 10 points apiece for Tanzania.
