Mali crushed Guinea to advance into the semifinal round in Madagascar. Mali breezed to the victory. They built a 60-24 halftime lead. Mali poured in 57 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Maimouna Haidara (181-PF-2004) notched 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Fatoumata Sanou (160-PG-2004) added 15 points for Mali. Nana Soumah (F-2005) answered with 16 points for Guinea.
Algeria - Egypt 44-98
Egypt advanced into the semifinal stage as they cruised past Algeria. Egypt piled up a 50-31 halftime lead. They held Algeria to just 13 points in the second half to march to the win. Jana Elalfy (192-C-2005) notched 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists, while Jana Sallman (189-F-2006) added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Egypt. Doua Yahiaouri netted 13 points for Algeria.
Angola - Uganda 57-44
Arminda Sindalawa (2006) recorded 14 points to lead Angola past Uganda. Angola used a 24-5 run in the second frame to take a 36-20 halftime lead. Uganda limited their opponents to just 21 points in the second half but could not avoid the loss. Sylvia Nantongo produced 12 points and 11 rebounds for Uganda.
Tanzania - Madagascar 58-61
Madagascar topped Tanzania to enter the semifinal stage. The hosts dominated in the first half. They recorded 26-19 halftime lead. But Tanzania responded with a strong 23-12 rally in the third period to surge ahead. But the home side managed to turn things around. They ignited a 23-16 rally in the fourth quarter to snatch the victory. Kristina Rakotobe (2005) notched 14 points, while Taratriniaina Ramahatra (2005) added 12 points for the winners. Nelious Mbugeni (168-G-2004) answered with 22 points and 18 rebounds for Tanzania.
