Mali continue continental dominance, clinch third straight title in Maputo

Mozambique - Mali 33-86
Mali conquered the third straight U18 African Championship title. They edged Mozambique in the title game in Maputo tonight. Mali dominated from start to finish in this one. They unloaded 50 points in the first half to record a 32-point halftime lead. Mali held Mozambique to just 15 points in the second half and cruised to the triumph. Assetou Sissoko (183-SG-00) and Sika Kone (190-F/C-02) stepped up with 25 points each to pace the champions. The duo also combined for 28 rebounds for Mali. The hosts responded with 11 points from Ester Gomes (00).
3-4 Place
Angola - Rwanda 59-46
Angola stepped onto the pedestal in Maputo. They beat Rwanda to claim Bronze medals. Angola recorded an 18:12 lead ten minutes into the game. They used a 15:10 run in the third term to pile up a 10-point lead. Angola held Rwanda to 11 points in the fourth quarter and marched to the win. Alexia Dizeko (178-G/F-01) had 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Marioneth Silva (00) added 14 points for the winners. Bella Murekatete (C-00) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds for Rwanda.

5-6 Place
Egypt - Cape Verde 43-38
Egypt rallied past Cape Verde to earn the fifth position at the championship. Maya Abdelfattah (00) scored 13 points and made 7 steals to lead the winning side. Egypt posted a 22:16 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 10-point mark at the final break. Cape Verde narrowed the distance in the final stanza but could not recover. Hoda Harb (00) added 7 points for Egypt. Joseana Vaz (00) had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Cape Verde.

7-8 Place
Uganda - DR Congo 38-48
DR Congo finished on a high note as they topped Uganda in the clash for the seventh place. DR Congo built a 15:7 lead after the first term. They triggered a 24:18 second half run to ice the victory. Deborah Kaba (00) netted 15 points and collected 12 rebounds for DR Congo. Azidah Nabayunga (00) replied with 8 points for Uganda.
