Mozambique, Egypt, Angola and Mali enter semifinals in Cairo

Madagascar - Mozambique 39-59
Mozambique rallied past Madagascar to advance into the semifinals in Cairo. Silvia Veloso (172-G-98) stepped up with 18 points and 6 steals to lead the effort. Mozambique eked out a 12:10 lead ten minutes into the game. They extended the margin at 6-point mark at halftime. Mozambique then went on a 24:9 run in the fourth period to secure the victory. Madina Camara (138-PG-99) chipped in 11 points for Mozambique. Elinah Ranarisaona (177-F/G-00) responded with 13 points for Madagascar.

Uganda - Egypt 25-67
Egypt sealed their semifinal appearance following a comfortable quarterfinal win over Uganda. Rana Abdelfattah (182-F/C-98) paced well-balanced effort from the hosts with 10 points. Egypt used a massive 27:1 run in the opening quarter to clear off. They stretched the gap at 37-point mark at the interval and never looked back en route to the win in the second half. Tokka Elshewekh (177-F/G-99) and Marian Khalaf tossed in 9 points each for the home side. Brenda Ayere (98) responded with 7 points for Uganda.

Tunisia - Angola 40-50
Angola held off Tunisia to stay in the title race. Valeriana Moxi (170-PG-99) came up with 13 points to lead the effort. Angola jumped to a 15:12 lead ten minutes into the game. They extended the gap at 7-point mark at the interval 26:19 halftime lead. Angola boosted the margin at 11-point mark heading into the fourth frame and marched to the win. Irene Cavemba (153-PG-99) tossed in 9 points for Angola. Marwa Shili (175-G/F-99) banked in 15 points for Tunisia.

Algeria - Mali 20-83
Mali crashed Algeria to advance into the semifinal stage in Cairo. The defending champions dominated from start to finish in this one. Mali went on a 50:2 run in the second and third quarters combined to clear off for good. Salimatou Kourouma (175-G/F-99) accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Rokia Doumbia (173-PG-99) added 13 points for Mali. Souhila Chaouche (170-PG-98) responded with 7 points and 11 caroms for Algeria.
