Group AAlgeria - Madagascar 27-55Madagascar recorded the opening victory at the championship. They upset Algeria for 1-2 record in Group A. Tokin'Iaina Sambatrarimiora (170-PG-98) and Christiane Jaofera (170-PG-99) had 12 points each for the winners. Madagascar eked out a 19:14 halftime. They triggered a 36:13 second half run in the second half to ice the win. Mickaea Andriamihaingo (182-F/C-99) had 10 points in the victory. Esma Bouhafs (176-F/G-98) and Souhila Chaouche (170-PG-98) responded with 7 points each for Algeria. Group BTunisia - Mali 24-94Mali registered the third consecutive victory in Cairo. They stormed past Tunisia to finish preliminary round undefeated. Six players scored in double digits for the winners. Aminata Diakite (166-PG-98) produced 15 points and 7 steals for the defending champions. Mali used a 36:3 run in the second frame to clear off for good. Kamba Diakite (172-G-99) had 14 points for the winning side. Haifa Helali (180-F-99) responded with 10 points for Tunisia. |
