Angola clinched their fourth African U18 Championship title. They dethroned Egypt in overtime drama in Kigali tonight. Bruno Fernandes (206-F-98) scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the champions. Angola jumped to a 25:16 lead after the first period. Egypt cut the deficit in the second term. They pulled within a single point at halftime 40:41. Egypt pulled ahead in the third term. But Angola stayed alive as they held their opponents to just 16 points and forced overtime. Angola dropped 9 points in the overtime and sealed the historic victory. Childe Dundao produced 19 points in the win. Mohamed Youssef (182-PG-99) responded with 15 points and 7 assists for Egypt. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) netted 14 points in the defeat.
3-4 Place
Mali - Tunisia 59-52
Mali outscored Tunisia to clinch the Bronze medals at the tournament. Ibrahim Doumbia (202-F-98) scored 16 points to lead the winners. Tunisia eked out an 18:17 lead after ten minutes. Mali speeded things up in the second term. They surged ahead for a 32:28 halftime lead. Mali held their opponents to just 24 points in the second half to secure the win. Ibrahim Camara (185-PG-98) and Ousmane Traore (192-F-98) provided 11 points each for the winners. Mohamed Rassil (198-F-98) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds for Tunisia.

5-6 Place
DR Congo - Rwanda 73-77
Rwanda earned the fifth place at the championship. The hosts held off DR Congo in the final game at the tournament. Cadeau Furaha (201-F-98) posted 29 points and 6 rebounds to lead the hosts. Rwanda clinched a 38:29 halftime lead. DC Congo sank 25 points in the fourth term but came up short of victory. Chester Kayonga (194-SG-98) posted 16 points for the winners. Michee Muteba (98) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds for DR Congo.

7-8 Place
Algeria - Ivory Coast 55-54
Algeria eked out a narrow win over Ivory Coast to finish 7th in Kigali. Rayan Hamdi (204-C-99) scored 16 points to lead the charge. Algeria ensured a 32:25 halftime lead. Ivory Coast went on a determined comeback run in the second half. But Algeria held on to snatch a narrow win. Louai Chebel (197-PF-98) provided 10 points for the winners. Adama Camara (192-PG-98) and Isaac Cisse (99) responded with 12 points each for Ivory Coast.

Mali - Egypt 74-77
Egypt topped Mali in the semifinal clash in Kigali. They will now face Angola for the trophy. Seifeldin Elsandily (196-C-98) scored 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to pace the winners. Mali rallied to a 23:18 lead after the first period. Egypt cut the deficit in the second frame. They pulled within a single point at halftime 38:39. Mali maintained the advantage throughout the third quarter. They secured a 3-point cushion heading into the fourth frame 57:54. But Egypt turned things around in the final period. They sank 23 points to snatch a tough win at the end. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for Egypt. Ousmane Traore (192-F-98) responded with 14 points for Mali.

Angola - Tunisia 92-58
Angola cruised past Tunisia in the first semifinal clash. Silvio Sousa (203-C-98) posted 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners. Angola dominated from start to finish. They secured a 25:16 lead after the first period. Angola kept the pressure growing throughout the second frame. They ensured a 45:28 halftime lead. Angola sank 28 points in the third quarter to gain a 26-point lead at the final break. Angola limited Tunisia to just 11 points in the fourth stanza to ice the win. They established a 46:28 halftime lead. Mali held DR Congo to just 30 points in the second half and marched to the win. Ousmane Traore (192-F-98) had 13 points in the victory. Jospin Kakule (98) responded with 16 points for DR Congo.

Rwanda - Tunisia 51-68
Tunisia shocked the hosting nation of Rwanda to seal their semifinal appearance in Kigali. Mohamed Rassil (198-F-98) provided 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners. Tunisia got to a quick start. They secured a 24:13 lead after ten minutes. Rwanda pulled within 6 points at the final intermission.
