MFM Q. - Sporting 42-63 Another interesting game for Egyptian Sporting (2-1) which played on the court of their biggest opponent Nigerian MFM Q. (1-2). Third ranked Sporting crushed hosts 63-42. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Sporting. MFM Q. was better in second period 16-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They held MFM Q. to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Sporting players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Mai Helwa (-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Shawnta Dyer (185-91, college: Louisville) who added 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Ifunaya Okoro (180-99) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds and forward Bintu Bhadmus (181-85) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sporting moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Ahly. MFM Q. at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with INSS. This time they lost in a game in Yaounde versus fourth ranked DR Congolese INSS 56-52. INSS dominated on the defensive end, holding FAP DE Yde to just 7 points in second quarter. They also forced 24 FAP DE Yde turnovers and outrebounded them 58-39 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by center Mariana Muadi (187-96) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and forward Cecile Mukoso (177-86) supported her with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by American-Cameroonian point guard Alexandra Green (167-92) did not help to save the game for FAP DE Yde. Forward Larissa Mbong (186-90) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. FAP DE Yde's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. INSS (1-2) left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with MFM Q. It was FAP DE Yde's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Energie. Top-ranked Inter-Clube had an easy win 103-53. The game without a history. Inter-Clube led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Energie to just 5 points in first quarter. Inter-Clube held Energie to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Inter-Clube forced 24 Energie turnovers and outrebounded them 57-30 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Energie's players. Senegalese power forward Astou Traore (182-81) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American-Angolan Italee Lucas (172-89, college: UNC) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Inter-Clube players scored in double figures. Inter-Clube's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Djefarima Diawara (180-94) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and Ivorian swingman Mariama Kouyate (180-88) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Inter-Clube have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Angolan champion maintains first position with 3-0 record, which they share with Ferroviaro M. Energie at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. (3-0) 84-73 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Ahly. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Ferroviaro M.. Al Ahly managed to win third quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ferroviaro M. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ingvild Mucauro (176-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Nigerian guard Sarah Ogoke (175-90, college: So.Poly State) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ferroviaro M.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kelsey Mitchell (172-95, college: Ohio St.) replied with 30 points and 4 assists and her fellow American import power forward Schaquilla Nunn (191-94, college: Tennessee) added 15 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for Al Ahly. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ferroviaro M. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Mozambican champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Inter-Clube. Defending Egyptian champion Al Ahly dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Sporting. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ferroviaro M..
