ASS Sale was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of ASB NG, which allowed them to win the game. ASB NG outrebounded ASS Sale 37-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Point guard Kalenda Kabongo (-90) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 assists for the winners and American power forward Jon Cathey-Macklin (206-91, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. ASB NG's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DR Congolese guard Maxi Munanga (191-93) responded with 18 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and Belgian point guard Yassine El-Mahsini (186-93, agency: Promotex) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. They took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kano Pillars won third quarter 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when City Oilers won last quarter 20-12. They made 30-of-37 charity shots (81.1 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Kano Pillars were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Robinson Opong (190-89, college: Rogers St.) nailed 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and point guard Jimmy Enabu (187-88) accounted for 11 points and 7 assists.
