First Bank - ABC 64:55

The Nigerian champions First Bank have been crowned the winners of the 15th edition of the African Champions Cup. They held off Ivorian ABC in the championship game to clinch the title.
First Bank and ABC traded baskets throughout the opening frame. The Nigerian team grabbed a 15:13 lead at the first break. They closed their defense in the second term limiting ABC to just 9 points in the term. The gap grew at 8 points at halftime. First Bank maintained a firm grip on the lead in the third quarter. First Bank arrived at the final break up by as many as 10 points. ABC outscored their opponents in the fourth term but had little chance to escape the loss.
Brisa Silva (168-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) scored 17 points to pace First Bank. Funmilayo Ojelabi (G-85) delivered 13 points contributed 13 points, while Mfon Udoka (190-F/C-76, college: De Paul) had 11 points in the victory. Fatoumata Camara (C) responded with 23 points and 12 boards for ABC. Salimata Berte (89) notched 10 points in the loss.
Danielle Green (173-G-86, college: Oklahoma St.) was named the MVP of the tournament. The All-Tournament Team also included Kani Kouyate (178-F-90) of CSA, Rashidat Sadiq (188-F-81) of First Bank, Flavia Azivehra of APolitechnika and Fatoumata Camara from ABC.

ABC and First Bank to clash in the Final - Nov. 22, 2009 

ABC Desportivo 60:49

ABC reached the championship game at the 15th Africa Champions Cup in Benin. They overcame the former champions Desportivo from Mozambique to claim the spot into the Final. The teams kept it close in the opening frame. ABC tallied a narrow 17:16 lead after ten minutes of action. Desportivo pushed the throttle in the second period building a 32:26 advantage at halftime. The Mozambique champions maintained the lead and headed into the fourth quarter ahead by 7 points 47:40. However the disastrous fourth frame from Desportivo opened the way to the title decider for ABC. The Mozambique team managed just two points in the fourth term and suffered a sudden setback.
Fatoumata Camara (C) delivered 15 points and 6 boards for ABC. Nuadi N'Goy added 14 points for the winners.

First Bank - Interclube 69:65 (OT)
First Bank posted a difficult overtime win in the semifinal battle at the 15th Africa Champions Cup in Benin. The Nigerian champions were paced by Danielle Green (173-G-86, college: Oklahoma St.) who knocked down 17 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and issued 4 assists.
First Bank recorded a 21:15 lead ten minutes into the clash. Interclube however refused to surrender. They outgunned their opponents 20:17 in the second period to trail by just three points at halftime. The Angolan kept on mounting the pressure on First Bank in the next two frames. They finally erased the deficit and leveled things up at 60 at the end of regulation. Danielle Green and Rashidat Sadiq (188-F-81) dropped long-range bombs in the extra period and First Bank reeled off to the victory. Adeola OlanreWaju (192-C-82, college: Xavier) delivered 11 points for the winners.

The end of the First Stage - Nov. 19, 2009 

The 15th African Champions Cup for Women in Benin named 8 Quarterfinalists as they will battle for the top positions. Only one of them finished the Group stage without losses. First Bank won all four games in the group to finish Group A with 4-0 record. In the game versus Energie the Nigerian team celebrated 79:35 victory. The Nigerian side started with 25-6 in the opening quarter and added 19-8 in the second. First Bank enjoyed 17-9 in the third period and finished the game with 18-12 in the last frame. Danielle Green (173-G-86, college: Oklahoma St.) led the winners with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Oluchi Nzekwe followed her with 11 points while the duo of Brisa Silva (168-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) and Rashidat Sadiq added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Abidjan Basket Club of Cote d'Ivoire finished the group with 3-1 record on the second position. On November 17th they rolled over Kenya Port Authority 63:40. ABC opened the game with 12-10 and added 13-3 in the second frame. The teams exchanged the victories in the second half period as ABC grabbed the win. Betty Kalanga (184-87) paced the winners with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 2 block-shots, Fatoumata Camara (C) followed her with12 points and 11 rebounds.
In Group B Inter-Clube and Desportivo M. finished with 3-1 record each on top. CSA advanced from the third place with 2-2 record and First Deepwater grabbed the last ticket to the Quarterfinals.

Benin opens 15th African Champions Cup for Women - Nov. 15, 2009 
First games were played at the 15th African Champions Cup for Women in Benin. In Day 1 Inter-Clube beat CSA 45:38, Sporting overcame Desportivo 72:71, ABC rolled over Politechnica and KPA outscored Energie 70:32. In Day 2 Inter-Clube was stronger than First Deepwater 83:58 and ABC beat Energie 79:46. CSA overcame Sporting 69:48, while First Bank cruised past A Politechnica 74:54. After the first two days four teams remain undefeated. ABC reached 2-0 record in Group A, while KPA and First Bank has 1-0 records. In Group B Inter-Clube is on top with 2-0 record.
