Vitalis
Chikoko
FC Bayern Muenchen (BBL) added to their roster 25-year old Zimbabwean ex-international power forward Vitalis Chikoko (207-91). He started the season at Tezenis Verona in Italian Serie A2. In 24 games he recorded 8.6ppg, 7.9rpg and 1.4bpg this season. Chikoko ended the last season at Grissin Bon RE (Serie A) in Italy. In 24 games he averaged 4.1ppg and 3.4rpg. He helped them to make it to the final. But the most of that year he spent at Gladiators Trier (previous name TBB Trier). In 27 BBL games he averaged 12.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.2apg and 1.7bpg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com German Bundesliga All-Defensive Team.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Chikoko was voted Afrobasket.com All-African Championships 2nd Team in 2015. He also represented Zimbabwe at the Afrobasket Championships in Rades (Tunisia) last year. His stats at that event were 5 games: 13.4ppg, Reb-4 (8.8rpg), 1.2apg, Blocks-1 (3.2bpg), FGP: 48.8%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 64.7%.
Chikoko has played previously for two other Germany teams: BG Goettingen and ASC 46 Goettingen.
On Chikoko: A talented, lanky forward/center who has a huge upside. Even stanging almost 6-10, he can spend yet time at the PF position, thanks to enormous athletic skills, versatility, and good feel for the game. His long arms allow him to be a good defender and shot blocker.

ZIMBABWE national basketball team coach Innocent Sitholebelieves they are in good shape to fight for a place at the AfroBasket championships as they make their last attempt this weekend in Bamako, Mali. After missing two opportunities, an automatic qualification during the regional qualifiers against Mozambique and a defeat to South Africa in the play-offs, Zimbabwe now face Chad and the Central African Republic in an additional qualifier to replace Congo-Brazzaville who pulled out. Zimbabwe Basketball Team Fall to South Africa - 1 month ago
ZIMBABWE'S dream of a second appearance at the AfroBasket Championships later this year went up in smoke over the weekend when they lost to South Africa in a closely-contested two-game basketball play-off in Johannesburg. Zimbabwe lost the opener 67-74 on Good Friday and won 70-68 in the second game on Saturday. However, their efforts were not enough to turn the tables in their favour as they needed to win by eight points to proceed to the African Championships scheduled for August in Con...   [read more]
