Pemba Warriors - KIU Titans 76-72

Pemba Warriors topped KIU Titans to take 1-0 lead in the series. Pemba Warriors forced 21 KIU Titans turnovers. Forward Amisi Saidi (-87) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Philip Amenyi (-89) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Ethienne Kazungu (-80) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and forward Samuel Agutu (193-92) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four KIU Titans players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

City Oilers - Power 80-70

City Oilers overcame Power in the semifinal series opener. City Oilers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ndikumana Landry (-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. The former international forward James Okello (193-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Paul Odong (-91) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Kenyan power forward Mickeal Makiadi (199-89) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Power. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

The D'Tigers of Nigeria began their World Cup qualifier on a winning note as they defeated Uganda 102-86 in Bamako, Mali. The opening exchanges were tight as both teams tried to establish dominance. Carrefour El Bulevar de Avila (LEB Silver) inked 28-year old Ugandan international swingman Robinson Opong (190-95kg-89, college: Rogers State, agency: Duran International). He played at City Oilers in Ugandan NBL league. In 8 African Champions Cup games he averaged impressive 16.0ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.8apg and 2.3spg (in top 2) last season.
