26-year old forward Sivachi Makutwa (F-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nkumba M. and receives a Afrobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Falcons (#11, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 68-62. Nkumba M. is placed at 7th position in Ugandan league. Nkumba M. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Makutwa had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Nkumba M. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Sivachi Makutwa averages just after two games 12.5ppg and 8.0rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Vinnie Jurua (F-89) of Falcons. He is a forward in his second season at Falcons. In the last game Jurua recorded impressive 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Falcons lost that game 62-68 to the higher-ranked Nkumba M. (#7, 1-1). This loss caused Falcons to drop to 11th position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Jurua is one of the most experienced players at Falcons and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.5ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 7.5rpg and 3.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Daniel Orenga (186-F-96) of JKL Dolphins (#3). Orenga scored 15 points. He was a key player of JKL Dolphins, leading his team to a 80-61 easy win against the lower-ranked Sharing Youth (#8, 1-3). JKL Dolphins needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost games. Orenga has a very solid season. In 4 games in Uganda he scored 8.0ppg.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Forward Michael Buzangu (F-82) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Pemba Warriors, receiving a Afrobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 21. The 35-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, seven rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Power (#3, 8-3) 65-64. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Power (8-3) to first ranked Pemba Warriors (10-1) 65-64 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Power. George Galanopoulos named head coach of Ugandan National Team - 10 days ago
Texas Legends assistant coach George Galanopoulos has been named the head coach of the Ugandan National Team the team announced today. Galanopoulos will lead Uganda in the FIBA Africa Basketball Championship in Tunisia and Senegal September 8 - 16. The 16-team tournament is an automatic qualifier for the Olympics.
