26-year old forward Sivachi Makutwa (F-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nkumba M. and receives a Afrobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Falcons (#11, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 68-62. Nkumba M. is placed at 7th position in Ugandan league. Nkumba M. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Makutwa had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Nkumba M. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Sivachi Makutwa averages just after two games 12.5ppg and 8.0rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Vinnie Jurua (F-89) of Falcons. He is a forward in his second season at Falcons. In the last game Jurua recorded impressive 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Falcons lost that game 62-68 to the higher-ranked Nkumba M. (#7, 1-1). This loss caused Falcons to drop to 11th position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Jurua is one of the most experienced players at Falcons and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.5ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 7.5rpg and 3.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Daniel Orenga (186-F-96) of JKL Dolphins (#3). Orenga scored 15 points. He was a key player of JKL Dolphins, leading his team to a 80-61 easy win against the lower-ranked Sharing Youth (#8, 1-3). JKL Dolphins needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost games. Orenga has a very solid season. In 4 games in Uganda he scored 8.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Francis Ogola (C-91) of JKL Dolphins - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Nerbert Byamukama (G-93) of Nkumba M. - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Malvin Midaki (F-90) of Nkumba M. - 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Emmanuel Okumu (F-97) of Sharing Youth - 20 points and 3 rebounds
8. Ferdinand Odama (F-95) of JKL Dolphins - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Tonny Okello (G-90) of Sharing Youth - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Jeane Phillipe Pemha (G-93) of JKL Dolphins - 10 points and 7 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
