Tunisia make mince meat of Togo in its group-D opening game Thursday at the Day-2 of the 26th edition of the FIBA Africa Championship for Men Madagascar 2011 Afrobasket with a 103-56 points victory. The 2009 third place finisher showed its determination to be counted among Africa basketball power-house from the jump-ball winning in all four quarters by 28-11, 30-16, 25-13 and 20-16 to put paid to the ambition of the Togolese side of creating an upset. Tunisia Macram Romdhane (198-F-89) led his team with 20 points 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and one block-shot, Mourad El Mabrouk (190-G-86) added 12 points while Salah Mijri contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 block. Togo shooting guard, Jimmy Williams led the floor with 25 points but the effort was not good enough to see his side go down by 47 points. *By Olusegun Ikuesan

Ferroviario Beira (D1) landed 30-year old Togolese ex-international guard Jimmy Williams (196-86, college: Alderson-Broaddus, WV). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Williams played most recently at Al Ahli in Qatari D1 league. In 12 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 23.4ppg and recorded 6.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg last season. Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Others Sign Basketball Pact - 1 Year ago
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Benin Republic, Togo, Niger and Burkina Faso on a regional development of basketball. Samen Mash'had (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old Togolese ex-international guard Jimmy Williams (196-86, college: Alderson-Broaddus, WV). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Williams played recently at Al Karkh in Iraqi Superleague. Part of last season he spent at Al Ahli (Premier League) in Saudi Arabia.
