Defending champions, JKT Stars today play Savio in the opening match of the National Basketball League at the National Indoor Stadium from 4pm. The match is expecting to be tough and exciting one following the preparations that the two teams have done so far. The two teams are among the nine outfits expected to battle it out for the country's basketball supremacy and six tickets for the Union League. Organized by the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), the NBL, the biggest basketball club tournament in the country, has remained competitive and exciting for three or so decades despite losing some of its sponsors. The TBF commissioner for technical development, Manase Zablon said yesterday that the league will feature teams that won the men's and women's titles in their respective regions last year. "Three top clubs in either category will represent Tanzania mainland in this year's Union League, which will also feature three teams from Zanzibar," said Manase.
