TBF Acting Secretary General, Michael Mwita, said the federation was working hard to make sure that all national level tournaments in this year's calendar are staged. Mwita confirmed the presence of various tournaments such as Women Day tournament set to be held on March 8th this year. The tournament will draw various women teams from Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Tanga, Morogoro and Arusha. However, Mwita said prizes for the winning teams and outstanding individuals will be awarded according to the availability of the sponsors. Mwita also said in May this year, TBF will host the national club championship that will be held in Dar es Salaam. He said the national club championship will involve all regional champions and runners up. With exception of Dar es Salaam that is considered to be a special zone it will draw six teams from Kinondoni, Ilala and Temeke districts. According to Mwita, The tournament will comprise both men and women teams. However, he said women tournament will be an open championship with the purpose of allowing various women teams to participate. He further said that winners of both men and women categories will represent the country in the Zone V basketball tournament that will be hosted in Tanzania at the end of July this year.
