Dar es Salaam. Vijana City Bulls trounced Dar All Stars 88-67 in an entertaining friendly game at Zanaki grounds on Sunday.

The City Bulls are shaping up for their Africa Fiba Zone V basketball club championship planned to tip off on August 5 and run through 11 in Bujumbura, Burundi. The winners took charge of the game right from the outset, tormenting their opponents with swift but accurate passes.
Vijana opened a huge lead margin of 25-24 at the end of the first quarter before stretching it to 33-21 at the breather.
Said Hamis and Jacob Malenga of Vijana were among the most impressive performer
The duo offered crucial support both defensively and offensively and in the process, eased the workload of dependable regulars including Mopero Baraka.
Malenga, who played as centre in place of the towering Hamis for long spells of the game, used effectively his masculine body to keep Dar All Stars players at bay.Vijana notched most of their points through Hamis who scored 25 points followed by Malenga with 20 while Dar All Stars top scorers were Lusajo Samuel and Juma Kisocky who buried 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Speaking after the game, a visibly overjoyed Vijana coach Bahati Mgunda showered praise on his players, but also expressed his respect for their opponents.
My players performed well once again against spirited opponents. Dar All Stars have experienced and talented players, but we managed to overcome the challenge.

This is a clear indication that Vijana can challenge for the regional title come August, he said.

Dar All Stars coach Mohamed Abdul conceded defeat, but pointed out that they deserved to win had it not been for his players to squander easy chances.
