Clevin Hannah selected the top Senegalese players playing abroad in last week's games - Jan 13, 2018

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Senegalese players who are currently playing abroad.


Clevin Hannah

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He led his Spanish team UCAM Murcia to a victory over the closely-ranked Banco di Srd (4-6) 94-88 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. Hannah was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals in 34 minutes on the court. Universidad Catolica de Murcia CB (6-4) is placed fourth in the Basketball Champions League. It was UCAM Murcia's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Hannah's first season with the team. Hannah has relatively good stats this year: 14.4ppg, 1.6rpg, 4.1apg, 2FGP: 46.3%, 3FGP: 43.9% and FT: 92.7%(38-41) in nine games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and American. Hannah is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Youssoupha Fall

   #2. Second place goes to former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France). He was the main contributor in a Le Mans' victory against the 13th-ranked Chalons-Reims (7-9) 90-84 in the French ProA last Saturday. Fall was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 14 rebounds. Le Mans Sarthe Basket (11-5) is placed second in the ProA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Fall has relatively solid stats: 11.1ppg, 7.3rpg, 2FGP: 66.1%(78-118) and FT: 39.3%. He played for the Senegalese U18 national team in 2012.

Babacar Toure

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland). Toure contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Monthey (7-9) crushing them 74-46 in the Swiss SBL in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Toure recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks and 3 steals. Fribourg Olympic (10-1) is placed first in the SBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Toure has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.5ppg, 11.6rpg, 1.5apg, 1.9bpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 60.7%(102-168), 3FGP: 36.4% and FT: 83.3%. Toure played for the Senegalese national team four years ago.

   #4. Forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU, currently plays in Greece) was the major contributor in Promitheas' victory against the closely-ranked AEK (6-5) 69-66 in the Greek A1 last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds in 35 minutes. ASP Promitheas Patras (7-5) is placed fifth in the A1. Faye has reliable stats this year: 12.4ppg and 5.3rpg in 11 games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

Hamady N'Diaye

   #5. International center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Virtus Bologna (7-7) crushing them 87-59 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. N'Diaye scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 4 blocks. Scandone Avellino (11-3) is placed first in the Serie A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. N'Diaye's overall stats this season are: 5.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 2.4bpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and Filipino. N'Diaye plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #6. Forward Maurice Ndour (206-92, college: Ohio, currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Enisey (3-7) 91-76 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. He scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 18 minutes. Unics Kazan (8-1) is placed third in the VTB United League. This year Ndour's overall stats are: 6.7ppg and 6.3rpg in three games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

Gorgui Dieng
Gorgui Dieng
   #7. International center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the New Orleans Pelicans (20-20) 116-98 in the NBA on Saturday night. He scored 14 points in 21 minutes. The Minnesota Timberwolves have a solid 27-16 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Dieng has been at the team for five years. This season Dieng's total stats are: 6.7ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.1apg in 41 games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #8. Center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, currently plays in Estonia) could not help TLU/Kalev (5-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Fall's very good performance TLU/Kalev was defeated 87-78 on the road by the higher-ranked Tartu Ulikool (#4). He was the top scorer with 21 points. Fall also added 9 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Fall averaged so far 12.3ppg, 7.1rpg and 1.2bpg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #9. International power forward Pape Badji (208-92, currently plays in Belgium) was not able to help Kangoeroes (11-5) in their last game. Despite Badji's very good performance Kangoeroes was badly defeated 96-76 at home by the lower-ranked (#6) Limburg United. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Badji also added 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. Badji has very impressive stats this year: 16.6ppg and 5.9rpg in 14 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

   #10. Forward Sitapha Savane (202-78, college: Navy, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Movil Estudiantes (5-9) in their game against Zaragoza (5-10) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Savane scored 9 points. But Movil Estudiantes was defeated in an overtime 102-97 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Zaragoza (#15). Savane has averaged so far 3.5ppg and 2.3rpg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Senegalese senior national team.

   #11. International center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help Twarde Pierniki in their game against Stelmet Enea BC in the Polish PLK. Mbodj scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 21 minutes. His team was crushed by 24 points 100-76. Mbodj has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3bpg in 16 games. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #12. International center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France) contributed to a JL Bourg's victory against the 15th-ranked Hyeres-Toulon 99-88 in the French ProA on Saturday night. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes. Ndoye's stats this year are: 10.5ppg and 6.5rpg in 15 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

   #13. Former U18 international power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) helped his Romanian team UBT Cluj Napoca win their game against the closely-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut 85-81 in the FIBA Europe Cup last Wednesday. He scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 24 minutes. Barro has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.6apg in eight games. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team sixteen years ago.

   #14. Former international forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-87, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Saitama Broncos (10-4) in their last game. Despite Thomas' very good performance Saitama Broncos were badly defeated 86-70 in Tokyo by the second-ranked Excellence. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Thomas also added 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year: 15.2ppg and 6.3rpg in 24 games. Thomas used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2016.

   #15. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Massagno win their game against the closely-ranked Neuchatel 88-76 in the Swiss SBL last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 13 rebounds. Aw averaged so far 13.7ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.5spg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team eleven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Euroleague) could not help Armani Milano (4-13) in their last game. Despite M'Baye's good performance the bottom-ranked Armani Milano was crushed 107-81 on the road by the leading CSKA. He scored 13 points in 21 minutes. It was Armani Milano's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year M'Baye averages: 6.2ppg and 2.1rpg in 17 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and French. Despite M'Baye's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #2. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) was the major contributor in Bakken's victory against the closely-ranked Mornar Bar (1-1) 93-92 in the FIBA Europe Cup last Wednesday. Diouf recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group K. Bakken Bears (2-0) is placed first. There are only four games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Diouf averaged so far 14.1ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.1apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Experienced Khalifa Diop (208-C-2, currently plays in Adidas Next Generation Tournament) contributed to a 3-point Gran Canaria U18's victory against the closely-ranked L'Hospitalet U18 (1-3) 77-74 in the ANGT last Friday. Diop recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas U18 (2-2) is placed second in the ANGT. The Regular Season already ended in the ANGT. Diop has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3bpg.

   #4. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to an Baskonia's surprising victory against the third-ranked Olympiacos (12-5) crushing them 86-54 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Diop scored 6 points. Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (8-9) is placed ninth in the Euroleague. Diop plays fifth season for the team. He has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 2.1rpg. Diop is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #5. Abdoulaye Gueye (206-F-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Georgia Tech to a victory against the Yale University 74-60 in the NCAA on Sunday night. Gueye scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Georgia Tech has conference record this season. Gueye plays fourth season for the team. He has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.5apg.

   #6. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help CB Canarias in their game against Gipuzkoa in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Niang cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 8 minutes on the court. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 89-70. Niang has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 2.2rpg in 10 games.

   #7. Oumar Seck (208-C-88, currently plays in Qatar) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Al Shamal 95-80 in a derby game in the Qatari D1 in Wednesday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 14 rebounds. Seck also added 3 assists. He averaged so far 13.9ppg, 12.8rpg, 3.2apg and 1.2bpg.

   #8. Bira Seck (204-PF-90, college: Idaho, currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for Tokyo Cinq Reves (2-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Seck's very good performance Tokyo Cinq Reves were badly defeated 96-78 in a derby game by the leading Tokyo HT. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Seck averaged so far 13.3ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.3apg and 1.8spg.

   #9. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 3-point Melilla Baloncesto's victory against the 11th-ranked Palencia Baloncesto 72-69 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. Samb has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 5.2rpg in 18 games. He has both Senegalese and Spanish nationalities. Despite Samb's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Senegalese team.

   #10. Iba Camara (206-F-94, currently studies in the States) contributed to an New Hampshire's shocking victory against the Binghamton University 71-67 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Camara had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 16 rebounds in 28 minutes. He has averaged so far 9.6ppg and 10.4rpg in 16 games.

Tamba Sport beat US Rail in the opener of the National 1 Masculin. They posted a 68-62 win in the first game. US Ouakam meanwhile overcame Louga BC 64-53 as Alphousseynou Sall led the way with 14 points. Dakar Universite Club edged HLM BC 50-30. They dominated the first half 30-5, while the opponents managed to catch up in the secodn half.   [read more]

Willetton Tigers (SBL) inked 25-year old Senegalese ex-international forward Badou Diagne (201-100kg-93, college: Co.Carolina). He played most recently at BC Winterthur in Swiss SBL league, but left the team in Jan.'17. In 6 games he averaged 5.2ppg and 4.3rpg last season. Diagne's team made it to the CIT Championship Semifinals in 2016. He also represented Senegal at the CIT Championship Semifinals two years ago.
