Clevin Hannah selected the top Senegalese players playing abroad in last week's games - Nov 11, 2017

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Senegalese players, who play currently abroad.


Clevin Hannah

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He could not help UCAM Murcia (2-3) in their last game. Despite Hannah's very good performance UCAM Murcia lost 91-96 at home to the higher-ranked (#26) Pinar Karsiyaka. He was the second best scorer with 21 points. Hannah also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 33 minutes on the court. It was UCAM Murcia's third consecutive loss in a row. Hannah has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 63.2%(12-19), 3FGP: 36.8% in four games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and American. Hannah is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Youssoupha Fall

   #2. Second place goes to former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France). He led Le Mans to a victory against the 16th-ranked Paris-Levallois (3-6) 87-76 in the French ProA last Sunday. Fall scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Le Mans Sarthe Basket (7-2) is placed first in the ProA. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Fall's first year with the team. This season he averages: 9.9ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 67.9%(36-53) and FT: 33.3%. Fall played for the Senegalese U18 national team in 2012.

Hamady N'Diaye

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Italy). He was not able to help Scandone AV in their game against New Basket BR (1-5) in the Italian Serie A. N'Diaye scored 6 points, had 5 rebounds and made 4 blocks in 28 minutes. Scandone AV lost 88-92 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#14) New Basket BR. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's N'Diaye's first year with the team. This season his overall stats are: 3.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.5bpg and FT: 16.7% in six games. N'Diaye is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and Filipino. He is also a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Gorgui Dieng

   #4. Center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Charlotte Hornets (5-7) 112-94 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Dieng recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds. The Minnesota Timberwolves have a solid 7-4 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Dieng has been at the team for five years. His total stats this season are: 6.9ppg and 5.2rpg. Dieng is also Senegalese national team player.

   #5. Former international center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, currently plays in Baltic League) led his Estonian team TLU/Kalev to a victory over the closely-ranked TTU (2-1) 80-72 in a derby game in the Baltic League last Thursday. He was MVP of the game. Fall had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds in 28 minutes. Tallinna Ulikool/Kalev (2-1) is placed ninth in the Baltic League. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Fall has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3bpg in three games. Fall used to play for the Senegalese national team ten years ago.

Ousmane Barro

   #6. An experienced power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in Romania) was the main contributor in an UBT Cluj Napoca's victory against the ninth-ranked Targu Mures (1-4) crushing them 97-68 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Saturday night. He was the best player in that game. Barro scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (4-1) is placed first in the Liga Nationala. This season Barro has relatively solid stats: 10.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.4apg. He is a former U18 international player as he played for the Senegalese team fifteen years ago.

   #7. International forward Sitapha Savane (202-78, college: Navy, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) contributed to a Movil Estudiantes' victory against the closely-ranked BBC Bayreuth (3-2) 90-84 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. Savane scored 8 points and blocked 2 blocks in 19 minutes. Movistar Estudiantes Madrid (3-2) is placed 43rd in the Basketball Champions League. This year Savane's total stats are: 3.3ppg and 2.2rpg in six games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.

   #8. Center Maodo Nguirane (210-93, currently plays in Bulgaria) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Academik Plovdiv (3-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Nguirane's good performance Academik Plovdiv was defeated 81-66 in Sofia by the higher-ranked Lukoil Academic (#3). He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 12 rebounds. Nguirane has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 7.6rpg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

Babacar Toure

   #9. Former international power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Fribourg win their game against the closely-ranked Pully (3-2) 85-76 in the Swiss SBL on Saturday night. Toure was the top player that evening. He recorded 21 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in 27 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Fribourg Olympic (5-0) is placed first in the SBL. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. Toure has very impressive stats this year: 17.8ppg, 10.2rpg, 1.3apg, 1.7bpg and 1.5spg in six games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team three years ago.

   #10. Center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France) couldn't help JL Bourg (5-4) in their game against Paris-Levallois (3-6) in the French ProA. Ndoye scored 6 points, had 10 rebounds and made 2 blocks. JL Bourg was edged 85-82 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked Paris-Levallois (#16). Ndoye has reliable stats this season: 11.3ppg and 5.0rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #11. International center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) helped Twarde Pierniki win their game against the 13th-ranked Czarni 80-64 in the Polish PLK last Saturday. Mbodj scored 9 points and blocked 2 shots in 18 minutes. Mbodj has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.3bpg in six games. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #12. Former international power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) was the major contributor in Massagno's victory against the tenth-ranked Lakers 74-59 in the Swiss SBL on Sunday night. Aw recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 3 assists. Aw averaged so far 15.0ppg, 13.2rpg and 1.5apg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #13. International center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Andorra in their game against Joventut in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Diagne recorded 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His team was edged in an overtime 103-101. He has averaged so far 5.4ppg and 4.9rpg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Diagne used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.

   #14. International center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) helped Fukuoka Rizing edge the second-ranked Orange Vikings 73-72 in the Japanese B2 League in Friday night's game. Faye scored 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He has averaged so far 6.9ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.8apg. Faye plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #15. International forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-87, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Japan) helped Saitama Broncos win their game against the seventh-ranked Tokyo Big Blue 109-97 in the Japanese B League D3 last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. Thomas also added 2 blocks in 23 minutes. His stats this year are: 14.8ppg and 6.0rpg in 12 games. Thomas used to play for the Senegalese national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Italy) managed to help EA7 Emporio Armani Milano in a victory against the 12th-ranked Dolomiti En. TR (2-5) 74-55 in the Italian Serie A in Saturday night's game. M'Baye scored only 4 points in 26 minutes. EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (6-1) is placed second in the Serie A. It's M'Baye's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 4.3rpg in six games he played so far. M'Baye has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and French.

   #2. Abdel Fall (202-F-91, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Germani BR's victory against the league outsider Grissin Bon RE (1-6) 79-68 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. He scored only 4 points in 5 minutes on the court. Germani Basket Brescia (6-0) is placed first in the Serie A. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. It's Fall's first season with the team. Fall has averaged so far 1.7ppg and 1.7rpg in six games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and Italian.

   #3. Experienced Mamadou Dia (201-C/F-78, currently plays in France) led Provence Basket to a victory against the 14th-ranked SPO Rouen (1-4) 88-82 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. He scored 12 points. FOS Provence Basket (3-2) is placed eighth in the ProB. Dia plays 12th season for the team. Dia has averaged so far 2.8ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg. He has both Senegalese and French nationalities.

   #4. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) helped his Danish team Bakken win their game against the closely-ranked Avtodor (2-2) 97-85 in the FIBA Europe Cup last Wednesday. Diouf recorded 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Bakken Bears (3-1) is placed first in the FIBA Europe Cup. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Diouf has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.3apg.

   #5. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) helped his Spanish team CB Canarias win their game against the -ranked PAOK (1-4) 79-74 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. He scored only 2 points in 2 minutes on the court. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (4-1) is placed 33rd in the Basketball Champions League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Niang has averaged so far 3.2ppg and 3.0rpg in five games.

   #6. Lamine Dieng (203-F-92, college: Pittsburg St., currently plays in Spain) helped Navarra win their game against the closely-ranked Agustinos-Leclerc 85-72 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. This season Dieng averages only .

   #7. Mouhamed Barro (205-F-95, currently plays in Spain) led Oviedo CB to a victory over the 12th-ranked Lleida Basquet 80-74 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Barro scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 23 minutes. Barro averaged so far 10.4ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.1spg in seven games.

   #8. Diarra Sidate (201-F-90, currently plays in Japan) helped Gunma win their game against the sixth-ranked Earthfriends Tokyo Z 73-66 in the Japanese B2 League last Saturday. He scored only 2 points, had 10 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Sidate has averaged so far 5.7ppg and 6.5rpg.

   #9. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Baskonia to beat Khimki. Diop cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was edged 91-90. Diop has averaged so far 5.8ppg and 2.6rpg. He also holds two passports: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #10. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) helped Melilla Baloncesto win their game against the eighth-ranked Sammic ISB 84-77 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. Samb scored 9 points. Samb has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 4.4rpg. He has Senegalese and Spanish nationalities. Despite Samb's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.
