Clevin Hannah selected the top Senegalese players playing abroad in last week's games - May 13, 2017

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Senegalese players who are currently playing abroad.


Clevin Hannah

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Lithuania). He led Lietuvos rytas to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked P.Zvaigzdes (15-21) crushing them 107-51 in the Lithuanian LKL in Saturday night's game. Hannah scored 14 points and added 7 assists in a mere 19 minutes on the court. Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius (26-10) is placed second in the LKL. This year Hannah averages: 8.4ppg, 1.2rpg, 3.5apg, 2FGP: 54.9%, 3FGP: 44.0% and FT: 87.5% in 22 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and American. Hannah is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Aziz N'Diaye

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, agency: Babcock Sports, college: Washington, currently plays in Japan). He led Dragonflies to a victory over the fourth-ranked Orange Vikings (29-31) crushing them 111-77 in the Japanese B League D2 on Sunday night. N'Diaye was MVP of the game. He scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 21 minutes. Hiroshima Dragonflies (46-14) are placed second in West group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's N'Diaye's first season with the team. This year N'Diaye's overall stats are: 9.4ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 61.2%(175-286) and FT: 35.7% in 45 games. He played for the Senegalese national team in 2007.

Ousmane Barro

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former U18 international power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in Romania). Barro was the major contributor in an UBT Cluj Napoca's victory against the fifth-ranked Oradea (2-7) 84-78 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (24-4) is placed first in Places 1-6 group. Barro has relatively good stats this season: 11.7ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 68.3%(166-243) and FT: 73.6%. He played for the Senegalese U18 national team fifteen years ago.

Antoine Mendy

   #4. Forward Antoine Mendy (198-83, currently plays in France) could not help Entente Orleans 45 (8-25) in their last game. Despite Mendy's very good performance Entente Orleans 45 was edged 92-89 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#4) Strasbourg IG. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Mendy also added 4 rebounds in 31 minutes. It was Entente Orleans 45's seventh consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. This year Mendy's total stats are: 5.5ppg and 2.7rpg in 24 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and French. Mendy is also Senegalese national team player.

International center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in France) contributed to a 3-point JL Bourg's victory against the 13th-ranked Denain Voltaire (14-19) 88-85 in the French ProB (second division) in Tuesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 12 rebounds in 30 minutes. JL Bourg Basket (25-8) is placed first in the ProB. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. This year Ndoye has relatively solid stats: 14.1ppg, 9.4rpg and 1.2bpg in 33 games. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #6. Center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a 1-point Twarde Pierniki's victory against the closely-ranked Rosa (21-11) 90-89 in the Polish PLK last Tuesday. Mbodj scored 7 points and blocked 4 blocks. Polski Cukier Torun (21-11) is placed fourth in the PLK. Mbodj has averaged so far 6.9ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.1bpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #7. International power forward Pape Badji (208-92, currently plays in Belgium) was not able to help Kangoeroes (17-5) in their last game. Despite Badji's good performance Kangoeroes lost 74-83 on the opponent's court to the leading Oostende. He was the second best scorer with 13 points. Badji also added 9 rebounds in 24 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Badji has reliable stats this year: 14.0ppg and 7.2rpg in 34 games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

Moussa Diagne

   #8. Center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in Spain) managed to help FC Barcelona Lassa to win against the 12th-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (12-19) crushing them 87-53 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. FC Barcelona Lassa (21-10) is placed sixth in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Diagne has averaged so far 3.0ppg and 3.3rpg. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

International small forward Maleye N'Doye (202-80, college: Furman, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Paris-Levallois (20-13) in their game against Le Portel (18-15) in the French ProA. N'Doye recorded 8 points in 21 minutes. Paris-Levallois lost 71-79 in Le Portel to the lower-ranked (#7) Le Portel. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. N'Doye has been at the team for five years. N'Doye has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 2.0rpg in 32 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.

Center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France) was the main contributor in Poitiers' victory against the 15th-ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (13-20) 84-71 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. Fall was the best player in that game. He recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Union Poitiers Basket 86 (17-16) is placed sixth in the ProB. Fall's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Fall's stats this season are: 10.4ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.5bpg. He is a former U18 international player as five years ago he still played for the Senegalese national team.

   #11. International center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) contributed to a 3-point Yokohama BC's victory against the fifth-ranked Akita Happinets 78-75 in the Japanese B League last Saturday. Faye recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Faye has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.2apg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #12. Former international swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware, currently plays in Japan) contributed to a Toshiba Thunders' victory against the third-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers 93-86 in the Japanese B League last Friday. He recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 12 minutes. Diouf has averaged so far 6.1ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.5apg in 51 games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #13. International point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83, currently plays in France) helped Lourdes-Tarbes win their game against the third-ranked Souffelweyersheim 66-63 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. d'Almeida was the top player that evening. He recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. d'Almeida's stats this year are: 13.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 7.2apg and 1.7spg in 34 games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #14. International forward Sitapha Savane (202-78, college: Navy, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Movil Estudiantes in their game against Valencia Basket in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Savane scored only one point. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 87-68. Savane has averaged so far 5.3ppg and 3.0rpg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #15. International center Mansour Kasse (208-92, currently plays in Spain) helped Moron win their game against the second-ranked Cambados 75-71 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Friday. Kasse had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 29 minutes. Kasse averaged so far 10.2ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.3bpg and 1.2spg in 12 games. He is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Baskonia's victory against the ninth-ranked RETAbet BB (14-17) 75-64 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Wednesday. He scored 8 points. Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (22-9) is placed third in the Liga Endesa. Diop's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Diop's fourth season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 4.6ppg and 2.9rpg. Diop has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #2. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Italy) could not help Enel Brindisi (14-16) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Enel Brindisi was crushed 86-65 on the road by the second-ranked Umana Venezia. M'Baye scored 12 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. The Regular Season already ended. M'Baye has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.7ppg, 5.3rpg and 2.5apg. M'Baye is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and French. Despite his Senegalese nationality, M'Baye previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #3. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) led Palencia Baloncesto to a victory over the closely-ranked Leyma Basquet (20-14) 92-80 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. Samb was the top player that evening. He scored 17 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in a mere 18 minutes. Quesos Cerrato de Palencia (22-12) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. Samb's stats this year are: 11.4ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1bpg in 28 games he played so far. He has both Senegalese and Spanish nationalities. Despite Samb's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Senegalese team.

   #4. Papa Beye (202-F/C-89, currently plays in France) contributed to an ALM Evreux's victory against one of league's weakest teams JA Vichy (13-20) 86-81 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. Beye scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. ALM Evreux Basket (17-16) is placed tenth in the ProB. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Beye has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 4.1rpg in 32 games.

   #5. Elson Mendy (200-F-85, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked ALS Basket (17-17) 81-66 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 7 points. BC Souffelweyersheim (23-11) is placed third in the NM1. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Mendy has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.6apg.

   #6. Experienced Mamadou Dia (201-C/F-78, currently plays in France) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Provence Basket in their game against JL Bourg in the French ProB (second division). Dia scored 6 points. His team was badly defeated by 17 points 94-77. Dia has averaged so far 8.2ppg and 2.4rpg. He also holds two passports: Senegalese and French.

   #7. Massine Fall (208-C-93, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Melilla Baloncesto in their game against Burgos in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Despite his good performance last Friday Fall scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Fall has averaged so far 4.4ppg and 2.2rpg.

   #8. Mouhamed Barro (205-F-95, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Ourense 78-60 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in only 14 minutes. Barro has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.9rpg in 36 games.

   #9. Bruno Diatta (208-F-96, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked CB Guadalajara crushing them 100-56 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night. Diatta recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 14 rebounds (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line). Diatta has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 8.9rpg.

   #10. Pape Sow (205-F/C-93, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Bruno Diatta in the Spanish EBA last game. Sow couldn't help CB Guadalajara in their game against Villarrobledo. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Sow scored only 2 points. His team was crushed by 44 points 100-56. Sow has averaged so far 9.9ppg and 4.7rpg.
