Movistar Estudiantes (Liga Endesa) inked experienced 38-year old Senegalese international forward Sitapha Savane (201-105kg-78, college: Navy). He played most recently at Gran Canaria (Liga Endesa). In 35 games he averaged 5.3ppg and 2.6rpg last season. Savane helped them to make it to the final and Supercup semifinals. He also played 18 games in Eurocup where he had 3.2ppg and 2.8rpg.
The previous (14-15) season Savane played at Divina Seguros Juventut Badalona (previous name FIATC Joventut). In 33 Liga Endesa games he recorded 8.9ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.6bpg. A very good season in his career as he was awarded All-Spanish Liga Endesa Defensive Player of the Year.
In 2000 he was drafted by Washington (USBL) in second round (13th overall).
Savane attended U.S. Naval Academy and it will be his 17th (!!!) season in pro basketball. He has been regularly called to Senegalese Senior National Team since 1998.
Savane has played also professionally in Italy, Spain (UCAM Murcia, Tenerife and Menorca Basquet) and USBL (Maryland M.).
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Estudiantes.
Savane's game is described as: Plays with hustle, has great leaping ablity and attitude, but is above all an udersized (201 cms) center, who can not be so effective at top level, if he won' t develop a reliable 4-5 metres shooting range.

Movistar Estudiantes roster for 2016-2017:
Jamar Wilson
Nicolas Laprovittola
Jaime Fernandez
Dario Brizuela
Sitapha Savane
Edgar Vicedo
Ali Traore
Goran Suton
Coach: Salvador Maldonado
