Here is the weekly review of the top performing Nigerian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor, currently plays in Euroleague). He led his Turkish team Fenerbahce to a victory over the tenth-ranked Zalgiris (11-14) 76-67 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Udoh was MVP of the game. He scored 16 points, had 7 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 4 shots in 37 minutes on the court. Fenerbahce Istanbul (16-9) is placed fourth in the Euroleague. Udoh has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.8apg, 2.3bpg, 2FGP: 59.4%(104-175) and FT: 64.6% in 21 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Nigerian senior national team.

Alade Aminu

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, agency: Three Eye Sports, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Lebanon). Aminu was the main contributor in a Al Riyadi's victory against one of league's weakest teams Hoops Club (3-12) 91-75 in a derby game in the Lebanese Pepsi LBL on Wednesday night. He was the best player in that game. Aminu had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 15 rebounds in 31 minutes. Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (6-0) is placed first in the Pepsi LBL. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Aminu has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.9ppg, 9.7rpg, 2.3apg, 1.4bpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 60.2%(109-181), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 63.8% in 16 games. Aminu is in the roster of the Nigerian senior national team.

   #3. The Nigerian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, agency: BeoBasket, college: Chicago St., currently plays in Mexico). Akindele contributed to a Fuerza Regia's victory against the closely-ranked Toros (22-14) 87-76 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Monday. He was the top player that evening. Akindele recorded 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 34 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (32-4) is placed first in the LNBP. It's Akindele's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 60.1%(196-326) and FT: 70.4% in 38 games. Akindele played for the Nigerian national team eight years ago.

   #4. Center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St., currently plays in Japan) could not help Toyotsu FE (31-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Toyotsu FE (31-11) was edged 104-101 on the road by the second-ranked Fukushima in the Central group. Alabi recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 5 blocks. This season Alabi has very high stats. He averages: 17.8ppg, 12.9rpg, 1.1apg and 1.4bpg. Alabi used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2013.

International forward Al-Farouq Aminu (206-90, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in NBA) was the major contributor in a Portland Trail Blazers' victory against the Brooklyn Nets (11-52) 130-116 in the NBA last Saturday. Aminu scored 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Portland Trail Blazers have 28-34 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Aminu has reliable stats this season: 8.5ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.9apg. He has a dual citizenship: Nigerian and American. Despite Aminu played previously for the USA U19 national team, he is currently in the Nigerian national team roster.

Forward Melvin Ejim (200-91, college: Iowa St., currently plays in Basketball Champions League) helped his Italian team Umana Venezia win their game against the closely-ranked Scandone AV (10-4) 72-68 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. Ejim scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 20 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (9-5) is placed third in group B. Ejim's stats this year are: 10.9ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg in 18 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Nigerian senior team five years ago.

Former international power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Italy) helped Banco di Srd win their game against the ninth-ranked The Flexx PT (10-11) 81-75 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. Lawal recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. He also added 4 blocks. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (12-9) is placed fifth in the Serie A. Lawal's stats this season are: 10.5ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.5bpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Lawal used to play for the Nigerian national team four years ago.

   #8. Guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge, currently plays in Lebanon) was not able to help Sagesse (4-11) in their last game. Despite Efevberha's very good performance Sagesse lost 96-108 in a derby game to the leading Homenetmen. He was the second best scorer with 23 points. Efevberha also added 4 assists in 37 minutes. It was Sagesse's fifth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Efevberha has very impressive stats this year: 21.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 4.5apg and 1.7spg in six games. He has both American and Nigerian nationalities. Efevberha used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2009.

   #9. Former U22 international power forward Dinma Odiakosa (203-85, agency: Inception Sports, college: Illinois St., currently plays in France) helped STB Le Havre win their game against the 15th-ranked Aix-Maurienne (9-12) 88-84 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. STB Le Havre (11-5) is placed fifth in the ProB. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Odiakosa averaged so far 13.6ppg and 9.7rpg. He used to play for the Nigerian U22 national team thirteen years ago.

Center Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (207-85, college: Maryland, currently plays in Turkey) helped Usak Sportlif win their game against the closely-ranked Istanbul BBSK (7-13) 80-68 in the Turkish BSL last Sunday. He scored 11 points and blocked 4 shots in a mere 18 minutes. Muratbey Usak Sportlif Basketbol (6-14) is placed 13th in the BSL. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. This year Ibekwe's overall stats are: 7.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3bpg in six games. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Ibekwe is an international player who is currently on the senior Nigerian National Team roster.

   #11. International small forward Derrick Obasohan (198-81, also represented by BeoBasket, college: Texas Arlington, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Provence Basket (15-6) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance Provence Basket was defeated 80-73 in Denain by the much lower-ranked Voltaire (#12). Obasohan was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 5 rebounds. Obasohan averaged so far 15.0ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.5apg. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Obasohan plays currently for the Nigerian national team.

   #12. International power forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-84, college: SMU, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Balikesir (3-17) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Balikesir lost 73-79 in a derby game to the much higher-ranked (#4) Banvit. Ofoegbu was the top scorer with 19 points in 28 minutes. Ofoegbu averaged so far 12.5ppg and 4.0rpg in 20 games. He holds both American and Nigerian passports. Ofoegbu is also in the roster of the Nigerian national team.

   #13. International forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (199-92, currently plays in Spain) helped Andorra win their game against the league outsider La ICL Manresa 85-77 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. He scored 9 points. Antetokounmpo's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg and 3.3rpg. He is also Nigerian national team player.

   #14. Former international forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC, currently plays in Japan) helped Gunma win their game against the sixth-ranked Shinshu BW 74-63 in the Japanese B League D2 on Sunday night. Kuso scored 13 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 4 blocks in a mere 16 minutes. Kuso averaged so far 13.7ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.7bpg in 42 games. He used to play for the Nigerian national team back in 2007.

   #15. International shooting guard Chamberlain Oguchi (196-86, college: Illinois St., currently plays in France) helped Boulazac Basket win their game against the closely-ranked Lille Metropole 84-70 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He scored 21 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals. This season Oguchi has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 1.7rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg. Oguchi is also in the roster of the Nigerian national team.

   #1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-G/F-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA) led Milwaukee Bucks to a victory over the New York Knicks (26-39) 104-93 in the NBA last Wednesday. Antetokounmpo was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 13 rebounds. Antetokounmpo also added 7 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals. The Milwaukee Bucks have 30-33 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Antetokounmpo's fourth year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Antetokounmpo averages: 23.3ppg, 8.7rpg, 5.5apg, 1.9bpg and 1.7spg. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian.

   #2. Experienced Ndudi Ebi (206-F-84, currently plays in Lebanon) could not help one of league's weakest teams Byblos (11-3) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance Byblos was defeated 75-64 at home by the second-ranked Al Riyadi. Ebi recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 19 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Ebi has very high stats. He averages: 23.1ppg, 13.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.9bpg and 1.6spg.

   #3. Kieron Achara (208-F/C-83, agency: Two Points, college: Duquesne, currently plays in United Kingdom) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Glasgow Rocks (16-7) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Glasgow Rocks lost 85-92 on the road to the second-ranked Newcastle Eagles. Achara had a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 2 blocks in 37 minutes. Achara has reliable stats this year: 14.3ppg, 7.5rpg, 2.6apg, 1.5bpg and 1.1spg in 23 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Scottish and Nigerian.

   #4. Chinemelu Elonu (206-F/C-87, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) was not able to secure a victory for AEK Athens (9-5) in their last game. Despite his good performance AEK Athens (#2) lost 87-95 on the opponent's court to the leading Monaco in the group E of Basketball Champions League. Elonu scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 13 minutes. This year Elonu's overall stats are: 6.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.3bpg in eight games.

   #5. O.D. Anosike (203-F/C-91, college: Siena, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in an Openjobmetis VA's surprising victory against the third-ranked Scandone AV (13-8) 82-75 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Anosike scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Openjobmetis Varese (7-14) is placed 14th in the Serie A. Anosike's overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg and 11.6rpg. He has both American and Nigerian nationalities.

   #6. P.J. Alawoya (203-F-88, agency: Inception Sports, college: McNeese St., currently plays in Iceland) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Snaefell crushing them 87-67 in the Icelandic Dominos League on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Alawoya scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. Alawoya has very impressive stats this year: 19.3ppg, 9.4rpg, 1.4apg, 1.1bpg and 2.0spg in seven games. He also holds two passports: Nigerian and American. Worth to mention Alawoya played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #7. Chimezie Metu (211-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to USC's victory against the The University of Washington 78-73 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. Metu scored 24 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Metu averaged so far 14.5ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.5bpg.

   #8. Semi Ojeleye (201-F-94, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the The University of Tulsa crushing them 93-70 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. Ojeleye scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 4 rebounds. This season Ojeleye has very high stats. He averages: 18.5ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5apg. Ojeleye holds both American and Nigerian passports.

   #9. Micheal Eric (210-F/C-88, college: Temple, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help RETAbet BB in their game against Unicaja Malaga in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. His team lost 63-74. This year Eric's total stats are: 8.9ppg and 5.5rpg in 20 games.

   #10. Anthony Odunsi (193-G-92, agency: SDJ Sports, college: Houston Baptist, currently plays in Iceland) contributed to Stjarnan's victory against the league leader KR 78-73 in the Icelandic Dominos League on Thursday night. He was the top player that evening. Odunsi recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. This season Odunsi has very high stats. He averages: 17.7ppg, 6.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.5spg. Odunsi holds both American and Nigerian passports.
