Gani Lawal
Banco di Sardegna Sassari (Serie A) added to their roster 28-year old Nigerian ex-international power forward Gani Lawal (205-106kg-88, college: Georgia Tech) from AV Cantu. In 9 Serie A games in Italy he recorded 11.9ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.3bpg this season. Lawal ended the last season at Al Ahli (D1) in UAE league. He helped them to win the cup and make to league final. But the most of that year he spent at another team Bighorns in U.S. semi-pro league D-League where in 9 games he averaged 6.2ppg and 5.9rpg. Lawal contributed in the Supercup final.
In 2010 he was drafted by Phoenix Suns (NBA) in second round (46th overall). Lawal attended Georgia Tech and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he won Italian SerieA championship title in 2014. Lawal was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA 2nd Team back in 2013. Strangely he also played for Nigerian National Team in 2013.
Lawal played at the Gulf Club Championships Winner this year.
He is quite experienced player. Lawal's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in nine different countries. Lawal tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Guangzhou Liu Sui), France (Chorale de Roanne), Greece (Panathinaikos), Latvia (VEF Riga), Poland (Stelmet), Turkey (Trabzonspor), NBA (Phi.76ers) and D-League (Delaware 87ers and Westchester Knicks).
