Diogu
Jiangsu Tongxi (CBA) landed 33-year old Nigerian international power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-116kg-83, college: Arizona State) from Guangdong Southern Tigers. In 44 CBA games in China he averaged impressive 20.3ppg, 9.4rpg and 1.2apg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention.
The previous (2015) summer Diogu was tested by Leones (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. He contributed to his team winning the Cup.
In 2005 Diogu was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in first round (9th overall). He attended Arizona State and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Diogu won Puerto Rican BSN championship title in 2014. He received also USBasket.com All-D-League Impact Player of the Year award in 2014.
He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport.
Diogu represented Nigeria at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) this year. His stats at that event were 5 games: 12.0ppg, Reb-2 (8.6rpg), 2.2apg, Blocks-5 (1.2bpg), FGP: 39.1%, 3PT: 35.0%, FT: 75.0%.
Diogu is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Diogu has played previously professionally in NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, LA Clippers, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings), Puerto Rico (Capitanes) and D-League (Northern Arizona Suns).
His game is described as: Good low-post game... Great footwork... Good hands... Long arms... Lacks height and athleticism.
