Sporting Alexandria edge Ferroviario Beira in the opener of the Champions Cup. The team from Egypt overcame Mozambique representative 75:49.
Sporting Alexandria won the first period 19-13 and added 15-13 rally in the second frame. The second half also belonged to the favorites. They won the third period 17-7 and increased to 18 points after 30 minutes in the court. Moreover Sporting Alexandria closed the game with a 24-16 surge for the first victory.
AHMED ABDELBARY and Hamdi Braa (203-F/C-86) top-scored for the winners with 12 points each. AHMED TAWFIK and EZZELDIN RASHED nailed 8 apiece, while Noel Felix (205-C/F-81, college: Fresno St.) brought 7. Armando Baptista (199-F-85) ended up with 10 points in a loss and Ephrem Davis (203-C-86, agency: Sherman International) as well as Octavio Magolico (200-C-84) scored 8 each. Augusto Matos (186-PG-90) followed them with 7 points.

Ferroviario de Maputo celebrate the title in the country as they won the Final series against Ferroviario da Beira. In the last game Ferroviario de Maputo posted a final 69-56 win to seal the trophy. Ferroviario Beira (D1) landed 30-year old Togolese ex-international guard Jimmy Williams (196-86, college: Alderson-Broaddus, WV). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Williams played most recently at Al Ahli in Qatari D1 league. In 12 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 23.4ppg and recorded 6.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg last season.
