Algeria closed U16 AfroBasket with victory. In the last day of the competition Algeria grabbed 55-54 thriller win against Mozambique. It was a game for the fifth place at this event. Of course, position No.6 belongs to Mozambique. The winner of U16 AfroBasket is Egypt, again. They outplayed Tunisia 117-67 in the Big Final. Thanks to this win, Egypt also booked a ticket for the FIBA U17 World Championship 2012 in Lithuania. Third place belongs to Mali, who was better than Angola 59-57.
Algeria ended Preliminary Round as No.2 of Group A with 1-2 record. They met Angola in the Quarterfinals and failed 52-66. After that, Algeria was better than Congo-Brazzaville 68-50 to open the Classification Round. Finally, they grabbed 55-54 win against Mozambique for the fifth place.

Ferroviario de Maputo celebrate the title in the country as they won the Final series against Ferroviario da Beira. In the last game Ferroviario de Maputo posted a final 69-56 win to seal the trophy. The second period was decisive in the game as Ferroviario de Maputo exploded with a 24-4 surge to take the lead in the game. Bojan Sekicki (188-PG-87) was named MVP of the Finals. Ferroviario Beira (D1) landed 30-year old Togolese ex-international guard Jimmy Williams (196-86, college: Alderson-Broaddus, WV). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Williams played most recently at Al Ahli in Qatari D1 league. In 12 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 23.4ppg and recorded 6.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg last season.
