Manga Basket celebrated another victory at the Africa Champions Cup in Benin. They knocked down Maxaquene in the classification round yesterday. The Gabonese team will now take on Kano Pillars in the clash for the fifth overall position at the tournament. Maxaquene will face InterClub for the seventh overall place.
Manga got to the better start. They held the Mozambique side to only 12 points in the first quarter to post a 3-point lead. Maxaquene adjusted offensively in the second period. The shots started to fall for Maxaquene as they erased the deficit and eventually eked out a 35:32 halftime lead. They maintained the margin throughout the third period. Maxaquene entered the fourth quarter up by six points 48:42. But Manga had their own thoughts about this one. The Gabonese team stunned Maxaquene with a 22:9 rally in the fourth period and celebrated an impressive win at the end. Fabien Bissielou (194-F-82) came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds for Manga. Aymar Boundou (82) added 15 points in the winning effort. Fernando Mandate (191-G-85) replied with 16 points for Maxaquene. Kim Adams (203-F/C-82, agency: Strategic Sports, college: Arkansas St.) provided 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

Ferroviario Beira (D1) inked 25-year old American point guard Angelo Warner (188-88kg-92, college: Morehead State). He played most recently at Mapfree Life in Cypriot North League. He helped them to win the cup. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Cyprus North League All-Imports Team. Ferroviario Beira (D1) agreed terms with 31-year old Ukrainian ex-international center Maxim Ivshyn (209-103kg-86). He played last season at SK Cherkasy Monkeys in Ukrainian Superleague. Ivshyn managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 18 Superleague games he had 5.1ppg and 2.6rpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals.
