Modibo
Diarra
Saint John Mill Rats (NBL Canada) confirmed in their roster 36-year old Mali ex-international power forward Modibo Diarra (208-113kg-80, college: Memphis). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 28 NBL Canada games he had just 2.6ppg and 2.6rpg in 2013-14 season.
The previous (12-13) season Diarra played at MCO Mouloudia Oujda (D1) in Moroccan league. But in 15 games he recorded only 1.2ppg and 1.3rpg in 2012-13 season. His team made it to the NBL Canada Semifinals in 2012. Diarra also represented Mali at the African Championships in Madagascar seven years ago. His team won Silver and his stats at that event were 8 games: 0.4ppg, 1.1rpg.
Diarra is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Algeria (GS Petroliers), France (Hyeres-Toulon), Germany (Gladiators and SSC Karlsruhe), Tunisia (Club Africain), ABA BN (Cape Cod F.) and Morocco (Plazza Casablanca Sport).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Saint John Mill Rats.
Diarra attended University of Memphis until 2004 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
He could be described: Dibo' as he is known to teammates, is an athletic center with a strong body, long arms, and good footwork. He is a capable post scorer, possessing a jump hook and can hit the 10-15 foot face up jump shot. He is very strong on the block with the ball and can spin or drop step his man for a slam dunk at any time. Very patient on offense and knows how to kick out the ball to the open man. He is a solid rebounder and superior shot blocker on the interior. He is also very good defending face up on a ball handler and challenges every shot.
