Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Malians who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is former international forward Amara Sy (202-81), who plays in the French ProA. He could not help one of league's weakest teams ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (13-11) in their last game. Despite Sy's good performance ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was edged 75-72 on the road by the higher-ranked (#5) Chorale de Roanne.

#1. This week's number one is former international forward Amara Sy (202-81, currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProA. He could not help one of league's weakest teams ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (13-11) in their last game. Despite Sy's good performance ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was edged 75-72 on the road by the higher-ranked (#5) Chorale de Roanne.
He was the second best scorer with 13 points. Sy also added 7 passes in 34 minutes on the court.
It's Sy's first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year: 11.7ppg, 5.3rpg, 3.0apg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 47.4%, 3FGP: 39.4% and FT: 70.5% in the 24 games he played so far.
Sy has a dual citizenship: Mali and French.

#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Sambou Traore (199-79, currently plays in France). Traore was not able to help Limoges CSP Elite (4-16) in their game against Le Mans (14-10) in the French ProA.
He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Limoges CSP Elite was defeated 77-69 in Le Mans by the much higher-ranked Le Mans (#4).
It was Limoges CSP Elite's third consecutive loss in a row.
This season Traore averages: 3.4ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 41.8% and FT: 48.0%.
He is another player who holds two passports: Mali and French.
Traore played for the Mali national team in 2011.
#3. The Mali player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Ludovic Chelle (183-83, currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProB (second division). He was not able to secure a victory for Hyeres-Toulon (12-16) in their last game. Despite Chelle's good performance Hyeres-Toulon lost 60-75 in Fos to the higher-ranked (#8) Ouest.
He was the second best scorer with 10 points in 25 minutes.
They ended the series of five consecutive victories.
This year Chelle's overall stats are: 6.8ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 53.8%, 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 66.7% in the five games.
Similarly like Traore and Sy above he has both Mali and French nationalities.
Despite Chelle played previously for the French U20 national team, he played also for the Mali national team in 2011.
#4. Shooting guard Mahamadou Drame (188-86, currently plays in France) contributed to Nantes' victory against the 11th-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (9-14) 86-74 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night.
Drame recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Hermine Nantes Atlantique (11-12) is placed seventh in the ProB.
Drame's total stats this season are: 4.5ppg and 1.8rpg.
Similarly like three previous players above, he also holds two passports: Mali and French.
Drame used to play for the Mali national team
back in 2011.
#5. Former international swingman Mahmoud Diakite (197-86, college: Wyoming, currently plays in France), who plays in the French NM1 (third division) couldn't help Vendee Challans (8-16) in their last game. Despite his good performance Vendee Challans was crushed 68-44 in Souffel. by the much higher-ranked (#3) Souffelweyersheim.
Diakite was the second best scorer with 10 points in 28 minutes.
This year Diakite's total stats are: 5.8ppg and 3.0rpg in the five games.
He has dual citizenship: Mali and French.

#6. Point guard Ibrahim Saounera (178-87, currently plays in France) contributed to Rueil's victory against the closely-ranked Monaco (13-10) 82-72 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday.
He scored 7 points.
Rueil Athletic Club (13-12) is placed ninth in the NM1.
This season Saounera has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 2.2rpg, 3.6apg and 1.7spg.
He is a former international player as he played for the Mali senior team two years ago.
#7. Former international power forward Dramane Diarra (203-80, college: Kansas St., currently plays in France) couldn't help Saint Vallier (9-19) in their game against Denain Voltaire (10-18) in the French ProB (second division).
Diarra recorded 5 points in 9 minutes.
Saint Vallier lost 68-74 in Denain to the higher-ranked (#14) Voltaire.
Diarra has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 2.1rpg in the 21 games.

#8. Power forward Modibo Diarra (208-80, college: Memphis, currently plays in NBLCanada) managed to help Saint John Mill Rats to win against the Moncton Miracles (20-20) crushing them 126-99 in the NBL Canada in Friday night's game.
Diarra scored only 2 points and added 3 passes.
The Saint John Mill Rats have 20-20 record this season.
Diarra has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 2.1rpg.
He used to play for the Mali national team
back in 2009.

#1.Bandja Sy (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the N.Mexico St. (14-4) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Sy's very good performance the N.Mexico St. was badly defeated 64-44 on the road by the Saint Louis University.
He scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Sy is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in N.Mexico St.'s roster.
This season Sy has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 5.3rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3bpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Mali and French.
#2.Yohann Sangare (193-G-83, currently plays in France) contributed to a 3-point Chorale de Roanne's victory against the closely-ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (13-11) 75-72 in the French ProA on Saturday night.
Sangare scored 10 points and added 5 passes in 34 minutes.
Chorale de Roanne Basket (13-10) is placed fifth in the ProA.
It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row.

#3.Mamoudou Sy (196-F-83, college: Cowley County CC, currently plays in France) managed to help ADA Blois Basket in a victory against the closely-ranked JA Vichy (18-7) 92-75 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday.
Sy scored only 2 points in 12 minutes.
ADA Blois Basket (14-9) is placed fifth in the NM1.
It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row.

FIBA Africa decided to hand out two wild-cards to Mali and Rwanda for the upcoming African Championships in the Ivory Coast (23-30th of August).
Rwanda finished second behind Egypt in Zone V qualifiers while Mali placed third in Zone II. Other possibilities for a wild-card would have been Togo (Zone III) and Zambia (Zone VI).

#1. This week's number one is former international forward Amara Sy (202-81, currently plays in France). He led ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket to a 3-point victory over the 12th-ranked JSF Nanterre (7-10) 87-84 in the French ProA in Monday night's game.
Sy was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. Sy also added 4 assists in 37 minutes on the court.
ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (10-7) is placed fifth in the ProA.
Sy has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.9apg, 1.4bpg, 2FGP: 48.2%, 3FGP: 45.0% and FT: 68.9% in the 17 games he played so far.

This season Sylla has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.6apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 47.0%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 73.3%.
He played for the Mali national team in 2009.
#3. The Mali player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international power forward Sambou Traore (199-79, currently plays in France). Traore was not able to help Limoges CSP Elite (3-11) in their game against Cholet (8-9) in the French ProA.
He scored 6 points in 22 minutes.
Limoges CSP Elite lost 67-75 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#8) Cholet.
It was Limoges CSP Elite's third consecutive loss in a row.
