D1 Round 12: Al Madina is defeated by Ahly Tripoli in a derby game - Dec 25, 2016

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tripoli: Ahly Tripoli (#2) and Al Madina (#4). Al Madina was smashed at home by 21 points 39-60 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Madina. Ahly Tripoli have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Ahly Benghazi. Al Madina at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tripoli: Al Ittihad (#1) and Al Yarmook (#3). Al Ittihad (13-1) smashed visiting Al Yarmook (8-5) by 41 points 75-34. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Yarmook. Al Ittihad maintains first position with 13-1 record. Al Yarmook at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Almarj. Third ranked host Morog (6-4) defeated one of their biggest challengers Al Hilal (3-7) 58-51. Newly promoted Morog maintains third position with 6-4 record having eleven points less than leader Ahly Benghazi. Al Hilal lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Almarj. Third ranked host Morog (6-4) defeated one of their biggest challengers Al Hilal (3-7) 58-51. Newly promoted Morog maintains third position with 6-4 record having eleven points less than leader Ahly Benghazi. Al Hilal lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Shabab (4-8) in Tripoli on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Al Ahly Tripoli (11-0) 66-31. Al Ittihad Tripoli (D1) tabbed experienced 35-year old Tunisian ex-international guard Mohamed Dhifallah (196-95kg-82) to play African qualify for clubs zone (1). He played most recently at C Africain in Tunisian Division I. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. The previous (15-16) season Dhifallah played at U.S. Monastir (also in Division I).
