Al Ahli lost the Quarterfinal game in Dubai at the Al Shabab Basketball Championship.
Al Shabab has been put in Group A along with Hoops from Lebanon, Al Sahel from Kuwait and University of Sharjah (UOS). Group B consists of US-based Team Unity, Al Ahli from Libya, Barako Bull and Zamalek from Egypt. The event will see the eight teams divided into two groups with the best two advancing to the knockout quarterfinals on May 22.

Al Ahli lost the Quarterfinal game in Dubai at the Al Shabab Basketball Championship. Group B consists of US-based Team Unity, Al Ahli from Libya, Barako Bull and Zamalek from Egypt. The event will see the eight teams divided into two groups with the best two advancing to the knockout quarterfinals on May 22. In Day 1 Barako Bull overcame Libya's Al Ahli 80:75. Emmanuel Montfort produced 33 points for the winners, while Craig Winder (188-G-84, college: Texas) netted 16 points in a loss. In Day 2 Al Ahli Libya won over Team Unity 102:92. Later Al Ahli from Libya won over Zamalek from Egypt 65:64.Barako Bull rolled over Team Unity (USA) 94:63. Mark Macapagal (188-G-79) scored 17 points for the winning side. In the Quarterfinal games Al Sahel of Kuwait overcame Libyas Al Ahli 101:89. Abdullah Al Shammari was most effective for the Kuwaiti side with seven points apiece in the opening two quarters, while Anthony Green added 11. For the Libyan side, the consistent Craig Winder was the only one in double digits.

Al Ahli Tripoli (D1) added to their roster 29-year old American guard Craig Winder (188-84, college: Texas). He played last summer at Wellington Exodus Saints in New Zealand NBL league.
In 2007 Winder was drafted by Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League) in eighth round (108th overall).
The former University of Texas star is in his sixth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as Winder's team made it to the Mexican CIBACOPA Semifinals in 2011

In 2007 Winder was drafted by Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League) in eighth round (108th overall). The former University of Texas star is in his sixth season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as Winder's team made it to the Mexican CIBACOPA Semifinals in 2011. He was also voted Big 12 All-Academic 2nd Team back in 2007 at his college time. Winder is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Australia (Adelaide 36ers), China (Ningxia Hanas), Qatar (Al Rayyan), Syria (Al Jalaa), Mexico (Ostioneros de Guaymas) and D-League (Maine Red Claws).

Ahli Benghazi wins Arabian Clubs Basketball Championship 2012 with 5 participating teams. The team from Libya won all four games and clinched the title.
In Day 1 Ahli Benghazi overcame Al Shorta from Iraq 84:71. The latter grabbed 19-16 after the first period but the favorites took 39:30 halftime advantage. Moreover they increased to 62:43 after three quarters and won the game by 13 points.

The team from Libya won the first period 21-9 and then did not allow the opponents to score in the second frame at all. They had 64:23 at the end of the third quarter and celebrated the easy win. In Day 3 Ahli Benghazi thumb C.A.Bizerte from Tunisia 85:72. Ahli started with 29-11 but could not keep the big lead. They led 70:47 with 10 minutes remaining, but allowed the team from Tunisia to cut it to 13. In the last day of the competition Ahli Benghazi overcame J.S.Kairaoun from Tunisia 76:63. The squad from Libya started with 19-11 lead and then had 38:26 at the halftime. J.S.Kairaoun reduced to 5 points entering the last period, but could not win the game.
