Kenya's Kaya Tiwi on Saturday finished third in the girls' basketball competition as the Brookside East Africa Secondary School Games came to a close. Kaya Tiwi, winners of the competition on their debut last year, beat LAC Tanganyika of Burundi 53-25 in the play-off match at Kaunda grounds. The Coast side were once again looking to notch another double having successfully retained their national title in April. Kaya Tiwi coach Philip Onyango vowed to return back stronger next year and reclaim the title. 'We had hopes of going all the way again this year but we were beaten by some good teams. We have picked some valuable lessons that will help us return better prepared next year,' the veteran tactician said.
