After their first two losses Nairobi City Thunder are starting to get comfortable in marquee games Thunder needed another dominant effort from Griffin Ligare (174-G-85) to beat the Co-op Bank Spartans. He had 31 points and Thunder rallied past Co-op Bank 67-55 on Sunday evening at Nyayo Gymnasium. Spartans who have been flirting with defeat in their last two games struggled from tip off to the last buzzer. Thunder led 18-15 in the first quarter and went into the half time break with a comfortable 38-29 lead. Thunder just had too much for the Co-op Bank Spartans in the first half. Spartans cut into the deficit early in the third quarter, it was a 6 point game at the end of the third quarter with Thunder leading 50-44. Thunder expanded its lead to 54-44 at the start of the last quarter and was not threatened again. Griffin took upon himself to score his teams last 8 points and Spartans fate was sealed. Kevin Chogo had 13 points for Thunder. Job Byron scored 12 points for Co-op Bank.
