Charles Abouo selected the top Ivorian playing abroad in last week's games - Nov 9, 2017

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Ivorian players, who play currently abroad.


Charles Abouo

   #1. This week's number one is former international swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU, currently plays in France). Abouo could not help one of league's weakest teams Provence Basket (2-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Provence Basket was defeated 75-67 on the road by the higher-ranked Sluc Nancy (#6). Abouo was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 5 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Abouo's first year with the team. Abouo has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.8apg, 2.5spg, 2FGP: 54.3%, 3FGP: 19.0% and FT: 73.3%. Abouo has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and American. He played for the Ivorian senior national team four years ago.

Remi Dibo

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Remi Dibo (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in France). Dibo led SPO Rouen to a victory against the closely-ranked Aix-Maurienne (1-3) 96-86 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds (made all of his six free throws) in 33 minutes. SPO Rouen Basket (1-3) is placed 13th in the ProB. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Dibo's first year with the team. This season Dibo's overall stats are: 8.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 35.3%, 3FGP: 31.3% in four games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French. Despite Dibo played previously for the French U16 national team, he played also for the Ivorian national team in 2016.

Moussa Kone

   #3. The Ivorian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Spain). Kone contributed to Navarra's victory against the closely-ranked Real Canoe (2-5) 86-78 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. Kone also added 5 assists in 33 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. KIA Sakimovil Navarra de Pamplona (3-4) is placed 12th in the LEB Silver. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. It's Kone's first year with the team. Kone has relatively good stats this season: 14.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 63.6%(35-55) and FT: 68.4% in six games. He has both American and Ivorian nationalities. Kone played for the Ivorian national team two years ago.

Louri Frejus Zerbo

   #4. Center Louri Frejus Zerbo (208-89, currently plays in France) managed to help Limoges CSP Elite to win against the league leader Cholet Basket (8-0) 89-86 in the French ProA on Saturday night. He scored only 4 points. Limoges CSP Elite (0-5) is placed seventh in the ProA. Zerbo has been at the team for seven years. Zerbo's total stats this season are: 1.6ppg and 2.6rpg. He also holds two passports: Burkinabe and Ivorian. Zerbo used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2013.

   #5. International center Aboubacar Hima (207-94, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Plasencia (3-4) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Plasencia was crushed 104-71 in MorĂ³n de la Frontera by the higher-ranked (#8) Moron. Hima was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 9 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was Plasencia's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Hima's first season with the team. This year Hima has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg and 8.2rpg in five games. He plays currently for the Ivorian national team.

Swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, agency: Promotex, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) contributed to a 3-point Nantes' victory against the 12th-ranked Denain Voltaire (1-2) 77-74 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. Edi recorded 12 points. Hermine Nantes Atlantique (3-3) is placed seventh in the ProB. Edi's total stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.3apg. He is international player as he played for the Ivorian senior team one years ago.

   #7. An experienced international center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Poitiers (1-3) crushing them 72-48 in the French ProB (second division) on Saturday night. Kone had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 28 minutes. Jean D'Arc Vichy Clermont Metropole (2-2) is placed eighth in the ProB. Kone has reliable stats this year: 10.3ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.3bpg and 1.8spg in four games. He used to play for the Ivorian national team last year.

   #8. Small forward Ismael N'Diaye (197-82, college: FIU, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Lakers (1-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite N'Diaye's good performance Lakers were defeated 74-59 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Massagno (#4). He recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his six free throws). N'Diaye's total stats this season are: 6.8ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.5apg. He used to play for the Ivorian national team last year.

   #9. International point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92, currently plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Guy Landry Edi and both played together in the last French ProB game. Pamba-Juille contributed to a 3-point Nantes' victory against the 12th-ranked Denain Voltaire (1-2) 77-74. He recorded 7 points in 21 minutes. This year Pamba-Juille's total stats are: 7.0ppg, 1.3rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg in four games. Despite he played previously for the French U20 national team, Pamba-Juille is currently in the Ivorian national team roster.

   #10. Forward Tiegbe Bamba (204-91, college: Portland St., currently plays in Romania) couldn't help Timba Timosoara (1-4) in their game against BC Timisoara (4-1) in the Romanian Liga Nationala. He scored 5 points. Timba Timosoara was crushed 101-76 in a derby game by the higher-ranked BC Timisoara (#4). It was Timba Timosoara's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Bamba has averaged so far 9.3ppg and 5.5rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Ivorian National Team roster.

   #11. International swingman Issife Soumahoro (197-88, currently plays in France) couldn't help Brissac-Aubance in their game against Saint-Quentin in the French NM1 (third division). Soumahoro cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 22 minutes. His team lost 70-85. Soumahoro has averaged so far 7.4ppg and 1.4rpg in eight games. He used to play for the Ivorian national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Ivorian passport but never been selected to any of Ivorian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France) could not help Pau-Lacq-Orthez (5-3) in their last game. Despite his good performance Pau-Lacq-Orthez was badly defeated 84-65 at home by the much lower-ranked (#11) JDA Dijon. Koffi was the top scorer with 12 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Koffi has relatively good stats this year: 12.6ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.3apg in eight games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French.

   #2. Bazoumana Kone (190-G-93, college: Bremerhaven, currently plays in Germany) contributed to Braunschweig's victory against one of league's weakest teams Oettinger Rockets Gotha (1-7) 92-87 in the German BBL in Thursday night's game. Kone recorded 8 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Basketball Loewen Braunschweigis placed second in the BBL. Kone's total stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 3.4apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and German. Despite Kone's Ivorian nationality, he currently plays for the German university national team and is not eligible to play for the Ivorian team.

BC Beroe (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old Ivorian ex-international forward Adjehi Baru (206-102kg-91, college: Charleston, agency: KMG Sports Management). He played last summer at Luoyang in Chinese NBL league. In four games he recorded 13.5ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.5apg, 1.8spg and 1.5bpg. Baru also played that season for Song Dynasty Team (Travel Team) in Chinese league. Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Ivorians who are currently playing abroad. Experienced Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket) could not help Pau-Lacq-Orthez (5-4) in their last game.
