Charles Abouo selected the top Ivorian playing abroad in last week's games - Mar 16, 2017

We bring you last week's top performances from Ivorians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU, currently plays in France). He could not help Denain Voltaire (10-12) in their last game on Friday. Despite Abouo's very good performance Denain Voltaire was edged 75-72 on the road by the much higher-ranked Lille Metropole (#4). He was the top scorer with 16 points. It's Abouo's first season with the team. This year Abouo averages: 9.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 46.7%, 3FGP: 44.8% and FT: 60.9%. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and American. Abouo played for the Ivorian senior national team four years ago.

Herve Lamizana

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, agency: Basket Management Solutions, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Taiwan). He led Yulon Luxgen to a victory over the closely-ranked Taiwan Beer (18-12) 68-61 in the Taiwanese SBL on Saturday night. Lamizana was MVP of the game. He recorded 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and made 5 blocks in 39 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Yulon Luxgen (19-11) is placed second in the SBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Lamizana has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 19.6ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.8apg, 3.0bpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 49.8%, 3FGP: 30.7% and FT: 70.4% in 34 games he played so far. Lamizana is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French. He played for the Ivorian national team in 2013.

Remi Dibo

   #3. The Ivorian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Remi Dibo (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in France). Dibo contributed to an ALM Evreux's victory against the 14th-ranked Saint Chamond (9-13) 90-81 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. ALM Evreux Basket (12-10) is placed sixth in the ProB. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Dibo has relatively good stats this season: 11.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 47.9%, 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 88.0%. He has both Ivorian and French nationalities. Despite Dibo played previously for the French U16 national team, he is currently a member of the Ivorian senior national team.

Louri Frejus Zerbo

   #4. Center Louri Frejus Zerbo (209-89, currently plays in France) managed to help Limoges CSP Elite in a victory against the 16th-ranked Olympique Antibes (7-15) crushing them 95-66 in the French ProA in Saturday night's game. Zerbo recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. Limoges CSP Elite (11-11) is placed ninth in the ProA. Zerbo has been at the team for six years. This season his overall stats are: 1.9ppg and 3.1rpg in 22 games. Zerbo also holds two passports: Burkinabe and Ivorian. He used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2013.

Former international guard Pape-Philippe Amagou (186-85, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France) was not able to help Le Mans in their game against Paris-Levallois (13-9) in the French ProA. Amagou cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points. Le Mans was crushed 68-44 at home by the higher-ranked Paris-Levallois (#5). Amagou's total stats this season are: 6.3ppg and 2.1apg. He holds both Ivorian and French passports. Amagou used to play for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

   #6. Point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92, currently plays in France) faced previously mentioned Charles Abouo in the French ProB last game. Pamba-Juille contributed to a 3-point Lille Metropole's victory against the 12th-ranked Denain Voltaire (10-12) 75-72. He recorded 13 points and added 4 passes in 32 minutes. This year Pamba-Juille's total stats are: 5.2ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1spg in 22 games. Despite he played previously for the French U20 national team, Pamba-Juille is also an international player who is currently on the senior Ivorian National Team roster.

   #7. International center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked ADA Blois (12-10) 88-70 in the French ProB (second division) in Saturday night's game. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Etoile Charleville-Mezieres (13-9) is placed third in the ProB. This season Kone has relatively solid stats: 13.3ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.1apg and 1.3spg. He is also Ivorian national team player.

   #8. Swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, agency: Promotex, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) faced previously mentioned Remi Dibo in the French ProB last game. Edi was not able to secure a victory for Saint Chamond (9-13) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Saint Chamond lost 81-90 in Evreux to the much higher-ranked (#6) ALM Evreux. Edi was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. They ended the series of five consecutive victories. Edi has reliable stats this year: 10.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.5apg in six games. He plays currently for the Ivorian national team.

Moussa Kone

   #9. Former international forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Germany) was the main contributor in Iserlohn's victory against the fourth-ranked FC Bayern II (13-9) 77-73 in the German ProB (third division) in Saturday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Kone recorded 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 29 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Iserlohn Kangaroos (13-9) is placed fourth in North group. Kone's stats this year are: 14.8ppg, 11.3rpg and 1.5apg in 23 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports. Kone used to play for the Ivorian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Ivorian passport but never been selected to any of Ivorian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France). He could not help Pau-Lacq-Orthez (16-6) to beat Strasbourg IG (13-9). Koffi recorded 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Pau-Lacq-Orthez lost 58-67 on the road to the lower-ranked (#6) Strasbourg IG. It was Pau-Lacq-Orthez's first loss after seven consecutive victories. It's Koffi's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg and 6.4rpg in 22 games he played so far. Koffi has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French.

   #2. Herve Toure (205-PF-82, currently plays in Argentina) managed to help Estudiantes Concordia in a victory against the fourth-ranked Instituto (23-18) 78-71 in the Argentinian LigaA last Tuesday. Toure scored only 3 points in 18 minutes. Estudiantes Concordia (28-13) is placed second in Norte group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Toure's overall stats are: 8.0ppg and 6.0rpg in two games. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French.

   #3. Dane Watts (203-F-86, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Oettinger Rockets Gotha (15-12) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Watts' very good performance Oettinger Rockets Gotha was defeated 80-71 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Hamburg (#11). He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Watts also added 8 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Watts has relatively solid stats: 14.8ppg, 6.2rpg and 2.1apg. He has both American and Ivorian nationalities.

   #4. Adjehi Baru (206-F-91, college: Charleston, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to secure a victory for SISU (6-12) in their game against Horsens IC (22-5) in the Danish Ligaen. Baru scored 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. SISU was crushed 98-61 at home by the second-ranked Horsens IC. The Regular Season already ended. Baru averaged so far 13.8ppg, 8.5rpg and 1.3apg.

   #5. Mohamed Toure (190-G-92, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Orzinuovi GaGa's victory against the fourth-ranked Piacenza (17-6) 83-70 in the Italian Serie B (third division) last Sunday. He scored only 2 points and added 6 assists. GaGa' Milano OrziBasket Orzinuovi (19-4) is placed first in Group B. Toure has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.9apg. He also holds two passports: Ivorian and Italian.

   #6. Ismael Sanogo (203-G-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Seton Hall in their game against the Villanova University in the NCAA. Sanogo recorded only 4 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 27 minutes. His team was edged 55-53. Sanogo has averaged so far 3.1ppg and 5.7rpg in 27 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports.
