Remi Dibo's double-double lands him Player of the Week award among Ivorians playing currently abroad: - Mar 9, 2017

We bring you last week's top performances from Ivorians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Remi Dibo

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Remi Dibo (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in France). He was the major contributor in an ALM Evreux's victory against one of league's weakest teams Saint-Quentin (8-13) crushing them 99-66 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. Dibo recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 4 steals (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line); quite an impressive performance considering it's only Dibo's third season in pro basketball. ALM Evreux Basket (11-10) is placed seventh in the ProB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Dibo's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 11.8ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.6apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 47.9%, 3FGP: 35.8% and FT: 88.0%. Dibo has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French. Despite he played previously for the French U16 national team, Dibo is currently a member of the Ivorian senior national team.

Charles Abouo

   #2. Second place goes to former international swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU, currently plays in France). He led Denain Voltaire to a victory against the second-ranked Provence Basket (15-6) 80-73 in the French ProB (second division) last Tuesday. Abouo scored 19 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 28 minutes. Denain ASC Voltaire (10-11) is placed 12th in the ProB. They ended the series of five consecutive loses. This year Abouo averages: 8.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 49.4%, 3FGP: 43.5% and FT: 59.5% in 21 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and American. Abouo played for the Ivorian national team in 2013.

Pape-Philippe Amagou

   #3. The Ivorian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Pape-Philippe Amagou (186-85, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He could not help Le Mans (9-5) to beat Banco di Srd (7-7). Amagou scored only 4 points in 15 minutes. The first-placed Le Mans (9-5) was edged 68-66 at home by the lower-ranked (#5) Banco di Srd in the group B of Basketball Champions League. This year Amagou's overall stats are: 5.4ppg, 1.1rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 38.2%, 3FGP: 23.7% and FT: 67.6% in 14 games. He has both Ivorian and French nationalities. Amagou played for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

   #4. Center Louri Frejus Zerbo (209-89, currently plays in France) managed to help Limoges CSP Elite to win against the closely-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (11-10) 88-77 in the French ProA last Monday. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Limoges CSP Elite (10-11) is placed ninth in the ProA. Zerbo has been at the team for six years. Zerbo's total stats this season are: 1.8ppg and 3.0rpg. He also holds two passports: Burkinabe and Ivorian. Zerbo used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2013.

   #5. Former international point guard Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate (181-87, currently plays in France) was not able to help Chalons-Reims in their game against JSF Nanterre (15-6) in the French ProA. He scored 5 points and had 3 steals in 21 minutes. Chalons-Reims was badly defeated 93-73 on their home court in Reims by the much higher-ranked (#4) JSF Nanterre. This year Diabate's total stats are: 5.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.5apg and 2.5spg in two games. He has Ivorian and French nationalities. Diabate used to play for the Ivorian national team two years ago.

Bryan Pamba-Juille

   #6. Point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Lille Metropole (12-9) in their game against Boulazac Basket (10-11) in the French ProB (second division). Pamba-Juille scored 9 points, made 4 passes and 5 steals in 29 minutes. But Lille Metropole lost 70-84 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Boulazac Basket. Pamba-Juille has averaged so far 4.8ppg, 1.4rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1spg in 21 games. Despite he played previously for the French U20 national team, Pamba-Juille is also an international player who is currently on the senior Ivorian National Team roster.

Mohamed Kone

   #7. An experienced international center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in France) couldn't help Charleville-Mezieres (12-9) in their last game. Despite his good performance Charleville-Mezieres was edged 85-84 in Rouen by the much lower-ranked (#11) SPO Rouen. Kone scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. It was Charleville-Mezieres' fifth consecutive loss in a row. It's Kone's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 13.3ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.1apg and 1.4spg in 20 games. Kone is also Ivorian national team player.

   #8. Swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, agency: Promotex, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Nantes (10-11) crushing them 87-65 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (9-12) is placed 13th in the ProB. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Edi has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.6apg. He plays currently for the Ivorian national team.

   #9. International center Cedric Bah (198-94, currently plays in France) couldn't help JA Vichy (8-13) in their game against Provence Basket (15-6) in the French ProB (second division). Bah cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only one point and grabbed 7 rebounds. The bottom-ranked JA Vichy was badly defeated 80-63 in Fos-sur-Mer by the second-ranked Provence Basket. It was JA Vichy's sixth consecutive loss in a row. Bah has averaged so far 0.2ppg and 1.5rpg. He is also in the roster of the Ivorian national team.

   #10. Forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Iserlohn (13-9) in their game against RSV Eintracht (7-15) in the German ProB (third division). Kone recorded 5 points. Iserlohn (#4) was crushed 92-70 in Stahnsdorf by the much lower-ranked RSV Eintracht (#11) in the North group. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Kone has reliable stats this season: 14.8ppg, 11.5rpg and 1.5apg. He holds both American and Ivorian passports. Kone is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Ivorian senior national team.


The list of other players, who all have Ivorian passport but never been selected to any of Ivorian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Doron Perkins (189-G-83, college: Santa Clara, currently plays in Iran) was the major contributor in a 2-point Naft Abadan's victory against the fourth-ranked Tabriz (0-2) 110-108 in the Iranian Superleague in Monday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 10 rebounds. Perkins also added 6 assists in 40 minutes. Naft Abadan (3-1) is placed first in Group 2. It's Perkins' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 14.7ppg, 7.0rpg, 3.8apg and 2.7spg in 15 games he played so far. Perkins has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and American.

   #2. Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France) led Pau-Lacq-Orthez to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (9-12) 85-70 in the French ProA last Saturday. He scored 19 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez (16-5) is placed second in the ProA. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Koffi has relatively good stats this season: 11.0ppg and 6.5rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French.

   #3. Herve Toure (205-PF-82, currently plays in Argentina) led Estudiantes Concordia to a victory against the ninth-ranked Atenas (13-23) 77-71 in the Argentinian LigaA on Tuesday night. Toure had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes. It was his first game for Estudiantes Concordia this season. His team is placed second in Norte group. Toure has both Ivorian and French nationalities.

   #4. Adjehi Baru (206-F-91, college: Charleston, currently plays in Denmark) led SISU to a victory over the league outsider Stevnsgade (1-25) 79-73 in the Danish Ligaen on Thursday night. He was MVP of the game. Baru recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 assists; not bad, considering it's only Baru's second season in pro basketball. SISU Copenhagen (6-12) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This season Baru has relatively solid stats: 14.4ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.4apg.

   #5. Dane Watts (203-F-86, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Oettinger Rockets Gotha's victory against the tenth-ranked Koeln Rh.Stars (12-14) 78-69 in the German ProA (second division) in Sunday night's game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha (15-11) is placed sixth in the ProA. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Watts' first season with the team. This year Watts has relatively solid stats: 14.8ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg. He also holds two passports: Ivorian and American.

   #6. Armand Anebo (194-SF-87, currently plays in United Kingdom). He could not help Leeds Force to beat Cheshire Phoenix. Anebo scored 6 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. His team was defeated 87-74. Anebo has averaged so far 4.1ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.1apg.

   #7. Salim Gloyd (198-F-92, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Hawaii-Hilo, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help CB Tarragona 2017 in their game against Blancos de Rueda in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Gloyd scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 81-63. Gloyd has reliable stats this year: 10.2ppg and 4.6rpg in 22 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports.

   #8. Alassane Kah (206-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Old Dominion University in a 1-point victory against the The Univ.of Texas at El Paso 62-61 in the NCAA last Thursday. Kah scored only 2 points in 2 minutes on the court. Kah has averaged so far 1.5ppg and 1.1rpg in 13 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports.

LEB Silver newcomer Plasencia Extremadura tabbed 23-year old Ivorian center Seydou Aboubacar (207-94). He is not a newcomer in Spanish League as he played most recently at Estudiantes Lugo Leyma Natura in the EBA. In 19 games he averaged 13.6ppg and 8.5rpg last season.
