Remi Dibo selected the top Ivorian playing abroad in last week's games - Mar 2, 2017

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Ivorians who are currently playing abroad.


Remi Dibo

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Remi Dibo (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in France). He was the major contributor in an ALM Evreux's victory against the closely-ranked Aix-Maurienne (8-11) 82-64 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. Dibo recorded 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. ALM Evreux Basket (9-10) is placed 11th in the ProB. Dibo has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 48.3%, 3FGP: 34.7% and FT: 84.2% in 13 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French. Despite Dibo played previously for the French U16 national team, he is currently a member of the Ivorian senior national team.

Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate

   #2. Second place goes to former international point guard Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate (181-87, currently plays in France). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (9-11) 90-71 in the French ProA last Friday. Diabate scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was his first game for Chalons-Reims this season. His team is placed 13th in the ProA. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Diabate is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French. He played for the Ivorian national team in 2015.

Pape-Philippe Amagou

   #3. The Ivorian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Pape-Philippe Amagou (186-85, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). Amagou could not help Le Mans (9-5) to beat Banco di Srd (7-7). He cannot count it as his best performance. Amagou recorded only 2 points in 10 minutes. The first-placed Le Mans (9-5) was badly defeated 79-63 on the road by the lower-ranked (#5) Banco di Srd in the group B of Basketball Champions League. This year Amagou averages: 5.5ppg, 1.2rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 34.4%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 67.6% in 13 games. Similarly like Diabate and Dibo above he has both Ivorian and French nationalities. Amagou played for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

Herve Lamizana

   #4. An experienced power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, agency: Basket Management Solutions, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Taiwan) led Yulon Luxgen to a victory against the league leader Dacin Tigers (21-9) 84-71 in the Taiwanese SBL last Friday. He scored 15 points, had 5 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Yulon Luxgen (19-11) is placed second in the SBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Lamizana has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.5ppg, 9.2rpg, 2.7apg, 2.9bpg and 1.5spg. Similarly like three previous players above, Lamizana also holds two passports: Ivorian and French. He used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2013.

   #5. Former international swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU, currently plays in France) was not able to help Denain Voltaire in their game against SPO Rouen (8-11) in the French ProB (second division). Abouo recorded only 4 points in 18 minutes. Denain Voltaire was badly defeated 75-57 in Rouen by the lower-ranked (#15) SPO Rouen. It was Denain Voltaire's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Abouo's overall stats are: 8.6ppg and 3.5rpg in 19 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports. Abouo used to play for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

   #6. Swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, agency: Promotex, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) contributed to an Saint Chamond's surprising victory against the fifth-ranked STB Le Havre (11-5) crushing them 91-66 in the French ProB (second division) in Saturday night's game. He recorded 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 20 minutes. Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (7-12) is located at the very bottom in the ProB. It was Saint Chamond's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Edi's total stats are: 8.7ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.0apg in three games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Ivorian National Team roster.

   #7. International point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92, currently plays in France) managed to help Lille Metropole Basket to win against the closely-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (11-8) 74-71 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. Pamba-Juille recorded only 4 points and added 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lille Metropole Basket (11-8) is placed fourth in the ProB. Pamba-Juille has averaged so far 4.5ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.4apg. He is also Ivorian national team player.

Moussa Kone

   #8. Forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for Iserlohn (13-8) in their game against SC Rist Wedel (9-12) in the German ProB (third division). Kone scored 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. But Iserlohn (#4) was defeated 81-73 in Wedel by the lower-ranked SC Rist (#8) in the North group. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This season Kone has very high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 11.9rpg and 1.6apg. Kone holds both American and Ivorian passports. He used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2015.


The list of other players, who all have Ivorian passport but never been selected to any of Ivorian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Doron Perkins (189-G-83, college: Santa Clara, currently plays in Iran) could not help Naft Abadan (1-1) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the second-placed Naft Abadan (1-1) lost 61-69 on the road to the leading Arak in the Group 2. Perkins had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 4 steals in 38 minutes. It was Naft Abadan's first loss after ten consecutive victories. It's Perkins' first season with the team. Perkins has relatively good stats this year: 13.2ppg, 6.9rpg, 3.6apg and 2.8spg in 13 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and American.

   #2. Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France) led Pau-Lacq-Orthez to a victory against the eighth-ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (10-10) 72-63 in the French ProA last Sunday. Koffi scored 11 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez (15-5) is placed third in the ProA. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Koffi's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.6ppg and 6.5rpg. Koffi is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French.

   #3. Adjehi Baru (206-F-91, college: Charleston, currently plays in Denmark) led SISU to a victory over the league outsider Stevnsgade (1-23) 79-73 in the Danish Ligaen in Thursday night's game. Baru was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 14 rebounds. Baru also added 3 assists; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. SISU Copenhagen (12-14) is placed fifth in the Ligaen. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Baru has relatively solid stats: 14.8ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg.

   #4. Dane Watts (203-F-86, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Oettinger Rockets Gotha's victory against the 13th-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (9-17) 85-75 in the German ProA (second division) on Sunday night. Watts recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha (14-11) is placed sixth in the ProA. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Watts has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg. He has both American and Ivorian nationalities.

   #5. Armand Anebo (194-SF-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Leeds Force's victory against the league outsider Manchester Giants (4-20) 81-71 in the British BBL in Sunday night's game. He scored 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Leeds Force (5-16) is placed tenth in the BBL. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. It's Anebo's sixth season with the team. Anebo's total stats this year are: 4.1ppg and 4.8rpg.

   #6. Salim Gloyd (198-F-92, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Hawaii-Hilo, currently plays in Spain) helped CB Tarragona 2017 win their game against the closely-ranked Gandia 92-73 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Friday. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. This year Gloyd has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg and 4.7rpg in 21 games. He also holds two passports: Ivorian and American.

   #7. Alassane Kah (206-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped ODU win their game against the Western Kentucky University 67-53 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Kah scored 9 points. His total stats this season are: 1.6ppg and 1.2rpg. Kah holds both American and Ivorian passports.

   #8. Patrick Gnagbo (206-F/C-90, currently plays in NAIA) was not able to help the West Virginia University Inst. of Techn. in their game against the Indiana University Southeast in the KIAC. Gnagbo cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 17 minutes. His team lost 81-90 in the KIAC. Gnagbo has averaged so far 4.5ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.4apg in 19 games.

   #9. Yoann Louis Folquet (185-G, currently plays in Canada) was not able to secure a victory for the University of Laval in their game against the Stingers in the Canadian university league CIS. He scored 6 points. His team was defeated 75-63. Folquet has averaged so far 3.9ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.8apg.

   #10. Mohamed Toure (190-G-92, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Orzinuovi GaGa in their game against Cento in the Italian Serie B (third division). He was the second best scorer with 9 points. Toure also added 3 passes in 20 minutes. His team lost 50-56. Toure has averaged so far 6.5ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.7apg in 22 games. He holds both Ivorian and Italian passports. Despite Toure's Ivorian nationality, he previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Ivorian team.

Hermine Nantes Atlantique (ProB) signed 29-year old naturalized Ivorian swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-99kg-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Promotex) from St Chamond. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Edi's team made it to the ProB Play-Offs Semifinals in 2014. He was also voted Africabasket.com All-African Championships 2nd Team back in 2011 at his college time. Edi represented France at the Afrobasket Championships in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) four years ago. Hermine Nantes Atlantique (ProB) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old naturalized Ivorian point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92). He was about to sign at Lille Metropole Basket in the ProB. Pamba-Juille has played there for the last four years. The last season he played also at Lille Metropole where in 37 ProB games he recorded 5.2ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3spg. Pamba-Juille's team made it to the French ProB Leaders Cup Final Four in 2016.
