Pape-Philippe Amagou selected the top Ivorian playing abroad in last week's games - Feb 16, 2017

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Ivorians who are currently playing abroad.


Pape-Philippe Amagou

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Pape-Philippe Amagou (186-85, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in France). He could not help Le Mans (9-10) in their last game. Despite Amagou's good performance Le Mans lost 75-85 at home to the much higher-ranked (#4) JSF Nanterre. He recorded 10 points and added 4 assists in 25 minutes on the court. It was Le Mans' third consecutive loss in a row. This year Amagou averages: 7.0ppg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 41.2%, 3FGP: 41.9% and FT: 69.1% in 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French. Despite Amagou played previously for the French U20 national team, he played also for the Ivorian national team in 2013.

Remi Dibo

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Remi Dibo (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in France). Dibo was not able to help ALM Evreux (8-10) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance ALM Evreux was crushed 95-65 on the road by the much higher-ranked Chorale de Roanne (#7). Dibo was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 5 rebounds. It's Dibo's first season with the team. Dibo has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 45.3%, 3FGP: 35.7%. He is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and French. Despite Dibo played previously for the French U16 national team, he is currently a member of the Ivorian senior national team.

Louri Frejus Zerbo

   #3. The Ivorian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Louri Frejus Zerbo (209-89, currently plays in France). He managed to help Limoges CSP Elite in a victory against the closely-ranked Strasbourg IG (10-9) 83-76 in the French ProA in Saturday night's game. Zerbo recorded only 2 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 24 minutes. Limoges CSP Elite (9-10) is placed ninth in the ProA. Zerbo has been at the team for six years. This season his overall stats are: 1.8ppg, 2.9rpg, 2FGP: 35.9% and FT: 66.7% in 19 games. Zerbo has both Burkinabe and Ivorian nationalities. He played for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

Herve Lamizana

   #4. An experienced power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, agency: Basket Management Solutions, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Taiwan) led Yulon Luxgen to a victory against the closely-ranked Taiwan Beer (17-10) 83-77 in the Taiwanese SBL last Sunday. Lamizana recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 8 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Yulon Luxgen (15-11) is placed fourth in the SBL. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Lamizana has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.8apg, 3.0bpg and 1.6spg. Lamizana also holds two passports: Ivorian and French. He used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2013.

   #5. Former international swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Denain Voltaire (9-9) in their game against ADA Blois (9-9) in the French ProB (second division). Abouo scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. Denain Voltaire was edged 73-70 in Blois by the higher-ranked (#8) ADA Blois. It was Denain Voltaire's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Abouo's total stats are: 8.8ppg and 3.5rpg in 18 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports. Abouo used to play for the Ivorian national team four years ago.

   #6. Point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (184-92, currently plays in France) couldn't help Lille Metropole (10-8) in their game against STB Le Havre (10-5) in the French ProB (second division). He scored 8 points in 24 minutes. Lille Metropole lost 65-72 in Le Havre to the lower-ranked (#6) STB Le Havre. Pamba-Juille has averaged so far 4.5ppg, 1.4rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg in 18 games. Despite he played previously for the French U20 national team, Pamba-Juille is also an international player who is currently on the senior Ivorian National Team roster.

   #7. International swingman Guy Landry Edi (202-88, agency: Promotex, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in France) contributed to a Saint Chamond's surprising victory against the 11th-ranked JA Vichy (8-10) 92-80 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. Edi scored 9 points in only 13 minutes. Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (6-12) is located at the very bottom in the ProB. Edi has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.5apg in two games. He is also Ivorian national team player.

   #8. Forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Iserlohn (12-7) in their game against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (13-2) in the German ProB (third division). Despite his very good performance last Saturday Kone recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Kone has very high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 11.7rpg and 1.6apg. Kone holds both American and Ivorian passports. He used to play for the Ivorian national team back in 2015.

   #9. International center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in France) couldn't help Charleville-Mezieres (11-7) in their game against Poitiers (8-10) in the French ProB (second division). Kone cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 17 minutes. Charleville-Mezieres was badly defeated 90-74 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked (#12) Poitiers. It was Charleville-Mezieres' third consecutive loss in a row. This year Kone has relatively solid stats: 13.6ppg, 10.2rpg and 1.3spg in 18 games. He is also in the roster of the Ivorian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Ivorian passport but never been selected to any of Ivorian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Alain Koffi (207-C-83, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) could not help Pau-Lacq-Orthez (4-2) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Pau-Lacq-Orthez (4-2) lost 86-95 on the road to the lower-ranked (#6) Oostende in the group O of FIBA Europe Cup. Koffi had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds in 21 minutes. Koffi has relatively good stats this year: 10.4ppg and 5.3rpg in 11 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Ivorian and French.

   #2. Doron Perkins (189-G-83, college: Santa Clara, currently plays in Iran) led Naft Abadan to a victory against the sixth-ranked Tabriz (9-8) 89-82 in the Iranian Superleague last Thursday. Perkins scored 17 points, had 7 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 3 balls. Naft Abadan (14-3) is placed second in the Superleague. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Perkins' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.4ppg, 6.1rpg, 3.1apg and 2.6spg. Perkins is another player who holds two passports: Ivorian and American.

   #3. Adjehi Baru (206-F-91, college: Charleston, currently plays in Denmark) was the major contributor in SISU's victory against the closely-ranked Horsholm (11-11) 95-83 in the Danish Ligaen last Thursday. Baru had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 2 blocks in 33 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Baru's second season in pro basketball. SISU Copenhagen (4-11) is placed sixth in the Ligaen. This year Baru has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg in eight games.

   #4. Dane Watts (203-F-86, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Oettinger Rockets Gotha's victory against the closely-ranked White Wings (12-10) 87-74 in the German ProA (second division) on Tuesday night. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha (11-11) is placed seventh in the ProA. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Watts has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg. Watts has both American and Ivorian nationalities.

   #5. Armand Anebo (194-SF-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) was not able to help Leeds Force in their game against Newcastle Eagles (17-4) in the British BBL. He scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Leeds Force was crushed 90-65 in Newcastle by the second-ranked Eagles. It was Leeds Force's third consecutive loss in a row. Anebo plays sixth season for the team. Anebo has averaged so far 4.1ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.1apg.

   #6. Mohamed Toure (190-G-92, currently plays in Italy) led Orzinuovi GaGa to a victory over the 14th-ranked Pallacanestro Alto Sebino Volpino crushing them 86-62 in the Italian Serie B (third division) on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Toure scored 16 points. Toure has averaged so far 6.4ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.5apg. He also holds two passports: Ivorian and Italian. Despite Toure's Ivorian nationality, he previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Ivorian team.

   #7. Alassane Kah (206-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the ODU in their game against the Middle Tennessee State University in the NCAA. Kah cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points in 3 minutes on the court. His team lost 51-64. This year Kah averages just 1.1ppg in eight games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports.

   #8. Patrick Gnagbo (206-F/C-90, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the West Virginia University Inst. of Techn. in their game against the Indiana University East in the KIAC. Gnagbo cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. It was his first game for West Virginia University Inst. of Techn. this season. His team was defeated 89-83 in the KIAC.

   #9. Yoann Louis Folquet (185-G, currently plays in Canada) managed to help University of Laval to win against the Gaiters 70-68 in the Canadian university league CIS on Saturday night. Folquet scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Folquet has averaged so far 3.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.8apg.

   #10. Ismael Sanogo (203-G-96, currently studies in the States) helped Seton Hall win their game against the Creighton University 87-81 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. Sanogo has averaged so far 3.4ppg and 6.3rpg in 20 games. He holds both American and Ivorian passports.

Adjehi Baru (ex Luoyang) is a newcomer at Beroe - 30 days ago
BC Beroe (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old Ivorian ex-international forward Adjehi Baru (206-102kg-91, college: Charleston, agency: KMG Sports Management). He played last summer at Luoyang in Chinese NBL league. In four games he recorded 13.5ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.5apg, 1.8spg and 1.5bpg. Baru also played that season for Song Dynasty Team (Travel Team) in Chinese league.
